Default Samaung TV

Debating between two TV's

55inch LED
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN55B7...58XB69BAXCQEQV

52inch LCD
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN52B7.../ref=de_a_smtd

I already have the Samsung 52 inch LCD w 120mhz and am happy. Was wondering how the 240mhz compares with the new LED. Any help is appreciated.

I have the LN46A650 and T240HD and love them. but I was looking at the new LED TV's and WOW the color and PQ is out of the park. BUT I still could see a little motion blur. every once in a while so 240Hz is not perfect yet. if it was me and I had the money I would go with the LED with out the 240Hz. good luck.

Supposedly they suffer from flashlighting problems at least your 55" selection, but I have not tested one in person.

Perfection is what every videophile wants in a video display. Pioneer has gone the extra mile to cater to the videophile’s stringent requirements.
Blackest black levels of any flat panel on the market today? Check
Colors that make your eyes want to divorce your eye sockets? Check
Dynamic contrast range that is guaranteed to cause couch potato syndrome? Check Grayscale that rivals $40,000 studio monitors? Got that too
The PRO-111FDs $5,000 MSRP right now $2,799.99. However, I personally could never put a price on perfection. The PRO-111FD has it all. At this point I’ve run out of things to say about the PRO-111FD. Personally I have over 545 Blu-Ray Disc and counting and I have 2 Denon AVR 5308CI and Epson 7500UB Home Theater Cinema Projector and Two Pioneer BDP 09 Blu-ray Players, Two PS3 80gb first generation models, One Pioneer Elite Kuro 50 inch PRO-111FD. All running M1000 HDTV HDMI Cable.

If you are going to get a Samsung LED LCD then go with this, 55" A950 model LCD, they are on sale at Vanns.com and are still the best LED LCD Samsung has available. Local dimming will beat out the Edge-lit designs everyday and it is the first LCD that I saw up next to a Pioneer and was like.. WOW. I couldn't belive how close the blacks, color, contrast and everything was.

PRAISE KURO!!!

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford that kind of tv. And aside from the motion blur (which goes away if you don't mind SOE) and viewing angle, the local dimming Sammy and Sony come very close to matching with the Kuro. Even some professional reviewers agree....

Motion blur? Viewing angle? I only see motion blur minimally almost never, and for viewing angle, well I guess it depends on your axis of viewing but in my HT it's not a concern. IMO my A950 beats the kuro but that's just my opinion, mind you my buddy has a kuro and he likes my Sammy better. Plus it doesn't act like a furnace in my HT room.

I'd do what callas01 said and get the 950. It's much better than the 7000. If you really care about the thickness of the panel, you might want to look into the 8000 models instead (LED + 240Hz).

sigh...

I should've waited before buying my first / second generation LCD's and plasmas almost five years ago. (Time snuck up on me). Look at everyone in here, enjoying nearly flawless television picture qualities at such affordable prices.

My Aquos and Pioneer Elite (about $2,500 and $9,000 back then) all have picture issues. I really want to replace them, but obviously, I paid too much money for them to replace them so soon. Back then, these were about the best consumer monitors you could buy at the time. They all had issues, but these had the fewest.

I'll wait until they offer a truly uncompromised set or a set with flaws that I can tolerate at the right price.

If you have the discerning eye of a Videophile, the latest batch of Pioneer Elite models are supposed to be the top of the heap. I saw one a couple of years back when Blu first came out and it was playing Ultraviolet and it was (and still is) the most beautiful picture I had ever seen. After seeing that, I had to have an HDTV and Blu Ray. And I didn't see any flaws in that picture.

And considering that Pioneer is outta the TV market altogether, you'd better move quickly.

If you don't have plans of getting one of the last of the Elite Pioneer's, wait a couple of generations for the Local Dimming LED Samsung or Sony sets to improve their viewing angle and you'll probably be able to get a picture that has the possibility of surpassing the Pioneer Elite...but they are likely to be quite pricey, but not as pricey as that Pioneer you bought 5 years ago!
