PRESS RELEASE

On 29 October 2007, Eagle Rock Entertainment simultaneously release two incredible DVDs capturing the incomparable Queen in their pomp as the world's biggest band at a sold out show in 1981 at Montreal's 18,000-seater Forum. The single DVD is "Queen Rock Montreal" and there is a special edition double DVD "Queen Rock Montreal + Live Aid". The live CD/LP from the concert is released on the same date on EMI with HD-DVD and Blu-ray versions to follow in November through Eagle.

"Hello Montreal...long time no see. You wanna get crazy?" asks Freddie as the band tear into their alternative 'fast' version of We Will Rock You, and from there on Queen show their hard rock roots, slowing down only for Love of My Life and the more mid-tempo Under Pressure, notably being performed live for the first time in this concert.

The real joy to be had in watching Freddie, Brian, Roger and John performing here is that, unlike any other Queen concert film available, this delivers raw Queen. Awesome. It's a must have for me although the camera work will be a bit doubtful as it was shot in 1981 when cameras couldn't handle the contrast so there will be flaring everywhere. Still Freddie in HD - awesome! Oh, and Dr Brian May too (Jumping the gun a bit I know but at least the PhD thesis is finally in.)

Cameras can't handle contrast flaring? I think that's only applicable for video cameras which would not be HD. If this is in HD, then it has to be shot on film.

Unlikely. "Queen Live at Wembly Stadium" was shot on video and it was around the same time. It suffers from bad camera flaring. Be nice if it was shot on 35mm but I doubt it. Anyone know for sure?

Well, from what the article says, it is basically the We Are The Champions show, which is out on DVD. I have both that show and the Live At Wembley show and the We Are The Champions disc has superior PQ and Audio to it, even having been recorded 6yrs prior to Wembley.

PAL video. You can see the cameras in several shots, and in the documentary the guy talks about how they had to plan for when people would change out the tapes.

The LiveAid footage better be on the BLu

Personally I can't wait to see this on BD! I am sure that the video they took back then was film. Queen filmed all their concerts for future releases. They would be likely to remaster it from the original. Even though I would love to see one of their more modern releaes as well on BD such as the LiveAid, or the Freddy Tribute concert, I would rather actually see Freddy and Brian and Roger ad John in HD a they looked in the old days, especialy since Freddy is now gone and John is in hiding so to speak,

Still, I hope to get a lot more Queen on BD, among othe bands.

Okay. Maybe I wish a mustachioed Freddie kept his shirt on the whole show.

I totally agree with you. There is nothing quite like Queen when they were in their prime. Freddie Mercury is the greatest frontman of all time (aside from Mick Jagger) imho. Queen with Paul Rodgers just can't compare.

I've been looking at this title on the movies page, just dying for the "Pre-order Now" button to show up. Yesterday afternoon someone posted a sale link to J&R.com, and I saw it available for preorder there. I thought "Hey, what gives Amazon!?" Later last night, I went to the movie section again, saw the button, and preordered it immediately along with a few other preorders that were sitting in my cart waiting.

I LOVE queen.

I see that Amazon.com is stating that this pre-order BR disc will supposedly play in BR players REGARDLESS of region. Question: Is that unique, or is BR "Region-free" and playable universally, be the disc a UK, EEU, Japan release, etc?

Queen has always had a "one disc for the world" thing going. They made a PAL version and an NTSC version and that was it. Blu doesn't have TV system problems, so one disc
