Is it possible for you to save the money for a better system over time? That would be the best way to not waste your money if you want the best out of what you spend. I would start off with a nice 4.0 system with a receiver. Get the receiver here, and then two of these and these. Then, save for a CS20, and another pair of these for 7.0. For a subwoofer, you could look at the offerings from eD, Acoustic Audio, Premier Audio, SVS, AV123, HSU, ect. Internet direct subwoofer manufacturers tend to offer the best subwoofers at the best prices vs. in-store bought subwoofers.

He can get the CS2 from new egg also instead of getting the CS20, it would be cheaper and they are the same center speaker.

Are you sure you want a HTib. You can always take the majority opinion and piece your own system together that you will never ever think of upgrading, or you can try this on for size http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...kyo-_-82120122and have a solid starting place to make intelligent decisions in the future towards your audio equipment.

another big thing that you want to avoid is proprietary speakers!!! they suck if you ever plan to build on your system
