Default Owner of Samsung PN58A550

Well I'm looking into buying the Pn58A550 Plasma for my Living room soon...I'm looking for owners input and thought from other members about the Samsung.
This Plasma will be my new project...

From what I hear, pq is quite good but black levels are not as good as Kuro or the Panny G10 or V10's. I also hear that Samsungs have questionable reliability and their customer service is terrible.

Yeah I've had issues with my Sammy lcd and their after sales service sucks a$$! Just my two cents.

Seriously, you may want to wait for the Panasonic 58" V10 to come out. I think it's due to ship in June. I'm thinking that besides the Kuro Elite, this will be the best large screen plasma you can buy.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm replacing my old 65" samsung rear projector after 10 years of great service it had serve me. That why I'm replacing it with another samsung for it and the price I'm getting is $1895 shipped to me. I may look into the Panasonic 58" V10. What would the price of v10 be around?

For the 58" I'm guessing somewhere in the 3000.00 range.

Should be a good buy for the money - Samsungs are pretty good in my book, and I remember the PQ on that set being pretty great.

If I were you I wouldn't be looking at the PN58A550. You should go with the PN58B550 if you are going to go with Samsung. The B version is the newer and improved version with a filter which not only reduces glare better, but it also preserves blacks better. Black level on this year's Samsung's are slightly better than last year's Panasonic's and way better than last year's Samsung's, so skip the A version and get the B. The prices on the B are just under $2000.

I have had the 50a550 for over a year now which was the predecessor to the tv you want. I have no complaints about mine. I have upgraded to a kuro but still have my sammy.

go for it, great tv

You know the 58B550 or the 58B560 (which gives you 24p playback) are 1999 and 2099 at Amazon. If you are not satisfied with the Blacklevels on your new TV consider returning it. Who are you ordering from?

Those are shipped with white glove service, all theoretically free, BTW.

I had purchased at PN63B550, but was not satisfied with its black levels, so I returned it and got an Elite 151FD. If you are going to be laying out a ton of money on a display get something you are satisfied with. I think the the newer Samsung would be a much better purchase for you. Just my two cents.

I've been very happy with my Samsung. I bought it about four months ago and I have no complaints.

As with user gtmorgan23, I have a PN50A550, which is the same model as the one in the title of this thread, only a 50" instead of 58". I love my set. I had one issue, which was the logic board, but it was fixed in a week's time. They had to order the part, then come out and install it in-person, which involved taking the set apart entirely. It has worked like a charm before and since that incident.

I also own a brand new TC-P42G10 (definitely not a "last year's special") 42" 1080p Panasonic plasma for my bedroom, and the Samsung blows that one away.

The black level on the A650 is much better then B550 or B560 when I did a side by side comparison....

I order from B&H photos.

Thanks for the input! I hoping for this plasma to give me the enjoyment as my old projector.

You did this comparison in a store environment I'm guessing? That is a pretty inaccurate environment to make judgements on that sort of thing with the bright lights they have. There is professional calibrator review over at AVS of the B550.

I'm excited for you though, these TVs are all great. B&H Photo seems to have some really good prices. Hope you enjoy your purchase.
