Although they spelled bluray wrong - the gadget is right on time for people who do not desire to upgrade their receivers yet and own a PS3 or other BD player without analog outs. Here's the link

Cheaper than a new amp for sure.
But can anyone explain the connections, 'cos I'm confused. HDMI in from the PS3 then HDMI to the screen presumably, but how do the analogue connections work? |

Very interesting product. PS3 users with legacy receivers that have multichannel analog inputs can enjoy the beauty of lossless audio relatively inexpensively.
I wonder how good the DACs are? I'm sure good enough for most users, but I wonder what the purists would say. Here are some pics from the site: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

4 jacks = 8 channels = up to 7.1-channels of line-level audio. Each wire would have a stereo 3.5mm jack at one end, and two RCA jacks at the other end. ![]() |

The connections on the 3.5mm jacks would not be the greatest, to be sure, but once the unit is up and running, at least it isn't like an MP3 player or other portable device which gets jostled and banged around. It would just sit quietly and do its work. I still wonder about its DACs, though. |

There are three wires involved per jack. Two for the individual channel audio, and a single ground wire, just like a typical 3.5mm stereo headphone jack. I would imagine that loss would be less of an issue, but shorter wires would further guard against that possibility. |

Works like a PC using 7.1 analog outs. You purchase 4 stereo 1/8th inch jack to RCA cables and plug them into the respective holes - now you have 8 rca jacks at the end for your 8 channel LPCM.

![]() And I wouldn't buy an onkyo 507/607 anything - not saying that they are junk - there are just better receivers in the same price range with more to offer - such as preouts (I.E Marantz and Yamaha). |

I'd want to have proof (from this site preferably) that this gizmo works and that it will output decent lossless audio before I'd cough up the necessary cash. To be honest I'd be more likely to save the money and put it towards a decent receiver that can do everything I need it to for Blu and PS3.
Nice idea though for those that are interested. |
