Angry Is nothing sacred with these Sci-fi remakes?

I am no fan of Tom Cruise, but I love the remake of "The War of the Worlds". They took some new creatives twists and turns, but the plot was the same. The alien invasion was defeated for the same reason. But, they completely lost the design of the orignal ships. Nothing was "a nod" to the original design. No scout vessel, nothing.

In the Lost in Space movie they completely changed our beloved bubble headed booby, Robot. Nothing remotely resembling him shows up until the end of the movie. Even then, he completely lacked his original personality. They made the family a bit too dysfunctional for my taste. In an effort to make it modern, they removed all the beloved Disney-ish traits. Even Doctor Smith was no longer Chicken Little with an evil streak, but just a douch.

Thank GOD they finally relented on trying to change Gort too much in the new "The Day the Earth Stood Still". I love his new design and the fact that he was comprised of "aphids" was a nice twist. It simply didn't pay enough homage to the original idea. There is the Michael Rennie way to send a political message, and there is the Michael Moore way. This remake was too Moore-ish. I barely enjoyed it.

If they ever remake "Forbidden Planet" do NOT screw with Robby or the meaning of the movie. This is one of the mothers of modern sci-fi. In fact, if Hollywood can't do it right just leave it alone.

Hollywood seems to be fond of flooding the remake toilet to the rim, and flushing it again in hopes the water goes down this time.
