think the problem is the firmware... but samsung didnt release any so i cant do anything at the moment!

You're not alone. OMG! What a sucky Samsung day I've had today !!!

Borrowed a 3600 from my work to try at home. Seemed to work well. Even had a better picture than my PS3 that has held down the Blu-ray duty here for several years now. Even set up and used the Pandora and NetFlix features...pretty cool and worked well.

So - I decide to run to Best Buy and pick up a 4600 as today is the last day of their $100 off sale. Got it home and the NetFlix streaming was all garbled on every title in my que. Called Samsung and they're closed. Called NetFlix and they never heard of anything like this. Back to the store it went. Decided I'd better pick up the 3600 in it's place as it's a much sturdier machine. Got the 3600 home, fired it up and all I get is a bright green screen that occasionally flashes to purple. Tried un-plugging and plugging back in and it looks like it's going to work and then it turns either purple or green. I guess there are worse places to be early on a Sunday morning then in the return lane at Best Buy...again.

I don't have a very good feeling about these Samsung players with common problems.

Check out the review thread. I've been troubleshooting problems as I get to them. If your getting it where the movie doesn't load....stop it....shut it off...put in the movie. Also Bd-live might make it take some time to load a movie for the first time. This player works good...but minor bugs on it yet that should be fixed by firmware. As far as netflix being choppy....might be your internet...and the player. Where as the netflix streaming isn't perfected yet. I know regardless of any internet connection i've had...when i've streamed something it has always lagged at some point.

There isn't a firmware update available to this yet. If this is how it was from the start...I suggest returning it for another one.

Funny how you've had problems with both the 3600 and 4600....what are you connecting the tv by? Hdmi? Have you tried a different cable...different input on the tv?

[QUOTE][Funny how you've had problems with both the 3600 and 4600....what are you connecting the tv by? Hdmi? Have you tried a different cable...different input on the tv?/QUOTE]

Yes. HDMI. The funny thing is that the problems aren't consistent from player to player. Bad NetFlix on the 4600 but NetFlix but it works well on the 3500 unit...at least for the first few minutes until the green screen takes over.

I've got the loaner 3600 I borrowed from work back in service and for the most part it seems fine on all counts...although it did freeze for a couple of seconds a few minutes ago on "Chris Botti: In Concert."

I'm not sure how to proceed here. I must say I'm a bit shaken at the trend I'm seeing on these units.

I own both the 3600 and the 4600 and they both are doing exactly what you stated, until they put out new firmware what I have been doing is unplugging the unit for a few minutes and then plugging it back up, also try pressing the fast forward button on the unit for five seconds and see if it resets itself.

Barring hardware failure,...... 99% the problems that BD players have with Netflix can be traced back to one of three things,..(listed in order of possibility) .....(1) A conflict with the Router,... (2) Too slow of an internet speed (you need a minimum of 3.0 mbps for HD),.... or (3) a conflict with your Firewall.

Mine was the router and the speed. Once I replaced the router and increased the speed from the ISP,.... it works like clockwork,.... beautiful HD picutre and great sound. It's been running for months now,.... and I have had no problems. The BD player is a Samsung BD-P2500. The only other problem that cause you grief is a firmware load that did not complete correctly.

If you've gotten poor results with a 3600 AND a 4600,.... it's time to look at the rest of the system for conflicts,... starting with the Internet setup,... i.e. router, speed and firewall.

I haven't had a problem with netflix except for the glitch on the initial release of f/w 2.5 which Samsung rectified in a matter of a couple of days.

I had it were it wouldn't play the movie once....I did a master reset...the thing just froze I think internal memory wise...which I assume is a firmware ordeal. It hasn't done it since though and has worked flawlessy. The wifi setup/streaming was tricky but my router security settings aren't user friendly and I had same problem setting up my iMac.

Have you not been able to use the 3600/4600 from the start? Also if I were you I'd shut of the sync functions if you have a samsung tv from the start. Later you can turn the function on. I'd then suggest setting up your wifi. The freeze issue happened once....I did a master reset...turned power on/off couple times...that fixed it. Haven't had a problem since. There isn't a firmware update so it might have a few bugs till then. What you get when your dealing with equipment that requires updates...growing pains of sorts...some better than others. What equipment are you using and are you using hdmi to hook it up?

The firmware can be downloaded via wifi or by disc. You should have a screen menu regardless. BD-live movies might take some time to load first time they are used. Also don't have a disc in it the first time you load it up. Let it load up and get your settings right...then put in a disc.

Default BD-P3600 and the lockup

My 3600 did the same thing. Samsung tech wanted me to arrange to have it serviced, as he believed there was a hardware problem. What the ? It went back to Best Buy. The replacement worked fine. Still haven't gotten the wi-fi to work, though.
