Default Are the new XBR 9's LED backlit?

Probably a question that everyone on here already knows the answer to. Are the new Sony XBR 9 tvs backlit like the Samsung 6000,7000 and 8000's? Thanks.

See XBR8 for a fully LED backlit set.

NO!
The XBR9's are CCFL based.
The new Samsung's are edge lit LED, which is not the same as the Tri-Luminous LED back lite found on the XBR8.

It doesn't matter any way CNet said the new 750 line produces much better blacks then Samsungs 7100 so it defeats the whole purpose of LED...

From the Cnet review:

Black level: The Sony XBR9 produced a deep, convincing shade of black in our dark home theater but it couldn't quite match the darkness delivered by some of the other sets. Shadows and black areas from the darkest scene in the movie, where the opening credits appear over the ship's dim cargo hold, appeared a bit more washed out and less realistic on the XBR9 than they did on the Samsung UNB7000, the XBR8, or the two plasmas, although the XBR9's blacks were deeper than those of the XBR7 or the Samsung A650. In other words, the XBR9 reproduced the darkest blacks among conventional LCDs in our comparison, but didn't match the LED-backlit models.

why are you posting that it has nothing to do with my post...post the part that says that Samsung new B750 line is better then there 7100 line...Sony's new models have nothing to do with my posts and by the way color can be fixed by getting an ISF calibration where as black levels cannot be so therefore in my opinion the new Sony's are working with a better base...because blacks in the end are the most important...and honestly from my first hand experience with Samsung LCD's (LNA860)and this is meant in no offense they really do have very bad black levels...
