Default iPod playing 5.1 on my Sony DH700

Hey everybody,

I've finally set up my home theater using a new DH700 and some 5.1 Polk 6750s. I plugged my iPod through a 3mm --> RCA jack through my CD port on my receiver, unfortunately I'm only getting sound out of the front 2 speakers and the sub.

Am I doing something wrong or is this the only way I'll get music through that jack (not having front center and back sides)?

By using the 3mm jack, you are only going to get sound from 2 speakers. You need to get a docking station so that the sound comes from the iPod dock connector and not the headphone jack. The headphone jack is designed for headphones only and you get poor quality from there using anything else besides a headphone.

is there any way to listen in 5 channels? or does the song itself have to be mastered in 5.1 audio?

I know with my yamaha, i have a cable that is a dock connector end to rca and there is a listening mode called 7 channel stereo that will output all channels.
