Default Okay, this is getting ridiculous... more XBox 360 failure!

So there I am out and about shopping and we walk into the Bell store in downtown Toronto at the Eatons Center..and at the front of the store to the left is a flat-panel T.V with a no signal message on the screen.

I look down.

Sitting there is a 360 with the red ring of death.

What the hell is the real failure rate of these things? It's getting absolutely ridiculous to see it happening this often - especially combined with the multiple failures being reported by credible people.

MS really needs to come out with some (audited) hard numbers about how many have actually failed. Real numbers are the only way they can clear this up and restore some level of credibility as far as I'm concerned. Even if it's a really bad number .. they have to do something. And it needs to be audited to be believable at this point.

Only had the blackberry and not my camera phone or I would have uploaded a pic..anyone can phone the store to confirm if they don't believe me. But I'll tell you this .. I'd have a guilty conscience recommending it to family and friends on this issue alone..something I had no concern with the original xbox and in fact enthusiasticly recommended to people.

My cousin called me today asking about the warranty, because his just did it this morning. He called me back a few hours later saying that after hitting the top of the 360 (it's on its side), it started working fine again. He bought the thing last October.

Blitz, where have you read the 61%? If the source is reliable, that's just down-right atrocious.

Multiple forums. Most claim to be working at MS at the support center. With the # of broken systems, i dont doubt it at all to be honest. Mine is on its way out and im going to sell it on ebay and not buy another.

The worst in the story is that they count replacement 360s as sold 360s. So the 10 G sold could be closer to 4 G? Shame on you, M$.
