Default Supernatural Season 4

Anyone else buying this on day one? I have season one on dvd, and of course season 3 on blu, so Im psyched that season 4 will be out in time for season 5's premier. Now if they would just get around to one and two.........

Im actually a big fan of the first season, it had more stand alone episodes. The recent season plays like a satanic soap opera. I like how they traveled from place to place fighting evil. I actually liked the fact that there werent alot of answers to their questions. Now its like "too much info" going on.

Season one is actually a pretty good dvd release.

I agree with you about the stand alone episodes. They had a story to tell and were going to do it over the course of the series, but when CW cancelled the series after season 2 or 3 and then brought it back because of the fans, the shows creators didn't know how long the series was going to stay on so they started doing more mythology episodes. The creators have aid that they do not want to go for more than 5 seasons, but CW has now renewed it through season 6. So who knows.

I wonder if they'll ever have some sort of Season 1-5 box set at the conclusion of season 5. (I'm assuming there really won't be a season 6).

The CW has never cancelled it. It was first on WB network but it got scrabbed and CW was created instead and formed the best shows from WB and UPN and Supernatural was among the best from WB along with Smallville ofcourse

So CW has never cancelled it you must have got that information wrong but you are right about the season 6 rumors

Thanks, you're right. I was at work earlier and did research on it. It was on the list to be cancelled but never was.

It depends on the price, I got Season 3 fro $35, and if I can find this set for around the same price, I will get it without a second thought. GREAT series, and the PQ of Season 3 was very good, so I have no doubts this set will be fantastic.

Can someone explain me why the hell WB continues to do DD 5.1? Is it so difficult for that studio to use lossless audio? What's the reason? it costs less to use DD? it costs more to use 2 more BD discs (at less than 1$ for them)?

Easy first day purchase for me. Love the show, and the Season 3 set was awesome. The CW is a terrible cropped SD channel for me, so it's like seeing it with new eyes when the home release drops.

I'm still going to buy this, but I'm am VERY disappointed about it. Don't get me wrong, I love the series and really enjoyed Season 4, but it's a Warner TV Release.

1) No Lossess? Come on! A show like this would sound amazing in TrueHD, especially the opening when the title screen is shown. Hell, Fox added DTS-HD MA 5.1 to 24 Season 7, which sounds phenominal for a TV-Show.

2) I've always hated Warner TV releases for one reason... They cram WAY to many episodes onto a single disc. While the picture looks a lot better than the HD broadcasts, only have 4 ( max 5 ) episodes makes sense.

Blu-Ray Version of SuperNatural has 4 BD-50 discs, with a total of 22 episodes. Thus we will have around 5.5 episodes per disc. But include all the bonus features onto the last disc, we'll have something like 7, 7, 6, 2.

Other shows like Dexter ( 4 episodes per disc ), Heroes Season 1 ( 5 episodes per disc ), 24 ( 4 episodes per disc ) manage fine, and I personally don't mind the thicker cases.

3) No god damn menu screen, which is my beef with Warner Releases. Sometimes I prefer to watch a certain episode and would prefer to select it from the menu, rather than let the first episode start up, then select the damn episode.

Granted, these are my personal beef's with Warner, and how I don't like how they handle TV releases. Heck, their DVD releases, from the ones that I have, seem to be okay...

I can't understand if this is a negative or a positive one. "The picture looks a lot better then HD broadcasts" Must be positive

But you got to admit atleast Warner releases Region free that is more then FOX and showtime do to their shows you can't even see them overseas

i will likely buy it only because i have seasons 1-2 (sdvd obviously) and season 3 BD. wasn't a huge fan of season 4 =/ i'll post my comments in spoiler tags as we cannot assume everyone posting in here has seen season 4

[Show spoiler]there were too many filler episodes, when they didn't move the story forward. i can deal with fillers, sometimes those are the best episodes, but it felt like season 4 was saturated with filler. i HATED the new what's her name demon...i'm so sad they "killed" the blonde demon, she was HOT and a solid actress for a campy tv show like this. i'll likely pick it up just so i have all the seasons =/

You sure you want a 6th season? The show's creator is leaving after season 5, and so far, both Winchester brothers are planning on leaving the show too. A 6th season would be more like a spin-off, unless some serious negotiating happens.

Actually Eric Kripke (SP?) the show's creator said that he had originally planned out 5 seasons, he only wants to do 5 seasons, and after season 5 he's out and doesn't care what WB does with the show. (I think he's a little miffed)
If they do a season 6 without him, I think you'll notice him gone. I just don't think it'll be the same or as good.

I miss the more unique stories for each episode, though the overall braching of the season is nice, and I do like that they go all the way back to season 1 and bring back the same actors to play characters (whether living or dead). One of the first episodes of the 4th season they had a lot of early guest stars come back. Can't remember what happened, but I did enjoy it.

I haven't seen season 4 or 5 so can't comment, and don't want spoilers. I wait for the DVD and now blu ray releases. I don't download the show, and I don't watch it on FTA.

Yes he said that but that was at the end of season 3 i think. But Jensen and Jared did say they are willing to make a 6th season they did not mention that Kripke would leave after the 5th and if Jensen and Jared is on board then i think Kripke will to

I would actually hope they end it after 5 seasons. I dont want this to be a show that "jumps the shark" and they keep it alive to milk it. I think it should go out on top and leave it at that.
