Default converting dvd collection to hard disk

Hi at the moment i am in the process of converting my 24 tv collection to .mp4 files so that i can use my western digital external hard disk and play them without using the discs, i have the huge 24 cases from the uk and they get damaged rather easily.

I recently bought Season 7 on dvd as well as Blu ray and i have converted Season 7 using dvd decryptor and ps3 video 9, i converted using this setting:

- mpeg4 AVC - 1080p - 2 Pass

I know that they aren't 1080p but i found that they were more viewable on my 32" Sony that when i chose the lower resolution. My Region 1 Season converted each episode at a good quality at around 350mb an episode, however when i try and convert my seasons 1-6 (Region 2) using the same setting, they are 600mb each, why is this?

I think he means this: NTSC video is 720 x 480 and PAL is 720 x 576 Which means the PAL files are bigger

yeah i know that just wouldn't have thought that would produce a file size double that of the region 1 dvd. Thanks for the reply
