HOME Blu-ray Review

Just got done watching this. The images were breathtaking, the information - shocking. I hope people all over realize what is taking place and start changing things. Otherwise, nothing will be left.

I guess even after this documentary you still don't believe we have an effect on our home, there is nothing that can be done to save you.

Anyways, if you have not see it - go watch it now. It's amazing. I have to say - it puts "Planet Earth" to shame.

yea watched it the other nite, Great Doc!! It makes reference to the 'rich' oil nations living high on the hog wasting the resources that got them there. An indoor ski slope in Qatar? A bit overkill

Yeah, I think UAE - Dubai is one of those places that is exceeding it's grasps and taking more and more than it will ever give back. Sure it's cool to see what they are doing - however, it's terrible all at the same time.

Those excessive skyscrapers? They built land in the ocean-'because they could' and the funny thing about those regions is, They hire Third world nationals to do all the manual labor. I know in Kuwait you get paid by the govt based on your family size. Amazing all the wasted resources being abused there

I guess they did not get the news notice that said global warming would be increasing the sea levels. You watch, everything they have built out at sea will vanish in the upcoming years because nobody listened.

Again, it's neat to see what they have done - but on the other hand - it's very un natural as well. It's wrong on so many levels. Can you imagine the amount of power that area is sucking down now? Man oh man!

All the screen grabs are really nice. You forgot the sweetest one of them all - you know the areal shot of the hot springs? The deep blue water, then teal, then yellow, then orange and finally brown? That was the BEST shot I have ever seen. Looked absolutely stunning!

Get it. The visuals alone are worth the price.

I'm a blind buy sucker for something like this as I've dumped some well spent coin before on the like, not that there would be really any risk from what I'm reading and seeing here with this one either. You folks "spoiled" me so to speak and I'll get it ASAP.

Thanks for bringing this one to our attention as I certainly would have missed it.

It's an awesome Blu-ray to watch for its picture quality, I did like how low frequencies of the bass was used in scenes with water (front channel throughout the film).

The only thing that I wished there was on the Blu was special features. Especially a making of.

There were some shots in areas where tribes and even polar bears looking up that was pretty cool.

But the scenes that caught my attention was more of the destruction, seeing Borneo, the rainforests and also learning about the Rapunui was just interesting.

It's one thing to hear or read news about things in terms of man-made destruction but to see it close up and even showing certain civilizations living amongst trash because their land has been depleted of trees. And lands where water has been depleted.... "Home" was an eye opener.

This is a "must own" for those who have bought "Planet Earth" and similar titles. Cinematography is excellent but most of all, as much as it shows the beauty of world, it shows the side of destruction that man has caused.

Thanks for the screen shots jwbbud. It's nice to see what I'm getting into before I purchase something like this. One question I have for those who've seen it, we have family movie night at my house every Sunday. Would something like this be appropriate for a 5-yr-old, or is there too much focus on the man-made destruction for her?

I'm about half way thru watching it and this is just beautiful.
And this is not even from Blu. I got it on National Geography Channel HD so only 1080i.

It would be just fine. They focus on the destruction just enough to make you aware. The only spot that "MIGHT" be an issue, is seeing all the trash piles and people going through them. That's the only questionable area.

Other than that - it would be a great watch for her.
