a typical RCA terminated cable - good
shielded RCA terminated cable - Better
pretty thick shielded RCA terminated cable (starting at 16AWG) - best.

The performance of a subwoofer depends on its location in the room. Make sure you buy a relatively long cable so that you can experiment with the subwoofer's placement. An RG6 Digital Coaxial Subwoofer Cable from Monoprice is perfect. Don't buy 6ft. Make sure it is at least 12 ft or longer.

VERY NICE pick on that subwoofer. I am looking at that same one aswell. Looks like the new drivers just came out a few days ago. New amp with all the goodies added aswell. Make sure to take lots of pictures and add them to your HT Gallery under your profile. It depends on what receiver you're using whether or not you'll need a y-adapter.

OH, just looked...... No you won't need a Y-adapter. Some say you get a little deeper sound from one, but I don't think that's true for all subwoofers and receivers... maybe just test with then without. Good Luck!!!

If you have $3 to spare, just get one when you order your sub cable. This way you can properly "test" it with and without to make a proper determination on your own. Just make sure it is RG6 rated, shielded well and long enough to allow you to move the sub around to find the best placement as Big Daddy suggested. You can never underestimate the value of placement for any sub. I do think there is a reason that they provide the 2 inputs on a sub, and to me, even if it adds an extra 3 db's as some say, for $3, it's worth it. By the way OP, my PC12-NSD ships out tomorrow and I can't wait to get a hold of this 60 lb bundle of performance and beauty!

It may increase the gain by 3dB, but it doesn't help the performance one bit. Your sub will still have the exact same performance, with the exact same limits as far as how loud it can play, and the exact same depth. If you are gaining 3dB with the splitter, you could achieve the same thing be increasing the gain on the sub a little bit without the splitter, with no ill effect at all.

You don't need a Y adapter, however if you use one, your sub will be louder due to the increased input voltage, but you can acheive the same effect by turning up the gain just a bit. I've used a y adapter on my subs, but not with my svs subs, and it's not really needed.

Since I have a couple Y-splitters, I feel I might as well use them. No sense in just letting them sit there if they can serve some kind of purpose, IMO.

You mean you don't want to buy the little lady some Prada clothes. Maybe some shoes or a handbag.

I've measured my SVS with and without a y-adapter and I gain at least 6 db with it. Doesn't really matter though, I just like seeing the gain dial lower.

As I posted earlier, you do realize you are not really gaining anything. The sub still can only play so loud, and the increase you are seeing is in no way changing the sub's capability. Don't get me wrong, great sub...I own one. Nothing wrong with using the y-adaptor, but just realized nothing gained either.
