audio glitch when playing games tonight.

Ok, so I start playing COD: Modern Warfare and I notice there is no sound coming outta surround speakers, I put my head right up to speakers and no sound at all was coming from them. I knew it wasn't the fault of the 4 surrounds since I had just watched a few scenes from some movies. I quit the game and then loaded it back up and this time the surround worked.
I then played some Ninja Gaiden Sigma and thought hmmm there seems to be no surround activity, sure enough nothing was coming from surrounds again. This time I switched the receiver's input to something else then switched back and it worked as the I could hear the surrounds now when playing. I've never had this happen before ever when playing games or watching blu-ray's. Only thing I can think of is I hooked up a new hdmi cable going from the PS3 to the receiver before playing tonight. Bad hdmi cable maybe?

EDIT: After reading the PS3 issues section on AVS it appears people have been reporting this type of problem since launch in 2006. apparently the problem arises if you watch a blu-ray movie and then put a game in. Apparently when going in this order the system needs a small reboot first to properly play the games audio. I did put a few blu-ray's in first before playing so maybe this is it. Wonder why a fix hasn't come out??
