OPTION B:
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Elite-...5115655&sr=8-1

On my second Denon receiver and can only say I'd do it again!

Go with the Denon, that's a top notch unit!

See if you can audition them locally and see which one you prefer and then buy that one. Everyone has their own opinions, it up to you to make your own opinion. Either way you are getting a Phenominal receiver.

That is an excellent price for the Denon receiver. I own the Denon 4308ci receiver. I use it as a preamp/processor and power my speakers with external amplifiers. I bought the receiver for five reasons:
  1. Quality and reputation of Denon
  2. Two HDMI outputs as I use a projector and a TV in my HT room.
  3. WiFi support.
  4. Support for 4 side surround speakers in addition to 2 rear surround speakers.
  5. Support for advanced Audyssey multi equalization.
Prior to the Denon, I owned a top-of-the-line Pioneer Elite receiver that did not have HDMI. Denon and Pioneer Elite are two classy receivers.

I own a 4308ci and absolutely love it. Just be aware that the 4310ci is out very, very soon. Check the Denon website.

The main diference between 4310ci and 4308ci is support for Dolby PLIIz, 6 HDMI inputs, and minor tweaks.

The Denon 4308ci does not have many shortcomings. It pretty much has everything a typical person needs for a relatively high-end home theater. Dolby PLIIz is a gimmick in my opinion. Do you really need 6 HDMI inputs? As far as other tweaks, I am not sure you can tell the difference between the two models. In the final analysis, you have to see how much money you can save by buying the 4308ci over the newer model.

Based on pure performance and features I would go with the Denon for sure.

Based on spending the $1500.00, I would go with a SC-07 offers all the same features as the Denon, 2 HDMI outs/ 4 HDMI in, Ethernet port for HMG and future firmware updates. ICE amp technology( Power bench tested at 135 watts running 7 channels). Advanced MCAAC calibration.

Use the remaining $650.00 on another SUB-10 and the rest on BLU's.

Or buy a mack daddy sub. HSU VTF 3.3 or Epik Sentinal.

Either way you are one of the luckiest 15 yr olds around. Good luck.

I definitely don't think the 4308CI is worth 850 more than the SC-07 and I'd jump on it at that price in a heartbeat.

The 4308CI is a great receiver no doubt, but it is over-priced compared to other receivers in its league that perform equally as well in bench-mark tests like frequency response, RMS, distortion, etc.

Denon 4308CI benchmark - http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/rec...-receiver.html

Pioneer Elite SC-07 benchmark - http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/rec...nch-page3.html

The 4308ci has some of the best analog performance on the market in the receiver category, that is where it continues to shine over most of its competitors...but where digital is concerned there is very little difference.
