Default Heroes on blu-ray and dvd dilemma

Ok so I just joined the blu-ray revolution and now I dont know what to do with my Heroes Season 1 and 2 on dvd. Should I get rid of season 1 and 2 and get them on blu-ray or should I just continue to get them cheaper on dvd? So for those who have heroes let me know what you think.

I guess it depends on how big of a fan you are of the show. I mean, I'm more of a casual Heroes fan so i decided to keep my season 1 on DVD and start buying them on Blu now..... But being an obsessive LOST fan i decided to sell my LOST seasons 1 & 2 on DVD and bought them on Blu today.....

haha, nice.

Personally, being a fan of the show, I would sell the DVD's and go with the blu's.

I dont know why you would get a DVD anything unless it has no shot of being released on Blu. My DVDs are pretty much trash in my eyes. I dont watch them at all anymore.

Personally, I would sell the DVD's asap and get the Blu's, especially if you're, like me, a fan of the series (I even liked season 2) :

- If you sell the DVD's now on the second-hand market, you still have a chance to get a decent price for them. The longer you wait, the more difficult it will become (unless you wait a really long time and they become vintage stuff)

- The blu's are a clear upgrade. I haven't owned the DVD's but when I compare it to the SD TV broadcasts, the Blu's are much better in the video and audio department. The picture has a nice slight grain layer, giving it a bit of a filmic look and I see details that were totally absent in the SD broadcast (mostly facial details, textures on clothing, etc). The audio is in HD lossless codec, so that's a clear update as well. The directionality isn't as good as movie blu-rays, but not bad for a TV series.

- Finally, these Blu's have U-control which is a fun feature when you rewatch the series. After my first viewing, I gave the discs some rest and now start rewatching them with all kinds of Picture-in-Picture pop-ups offering additional information (character bio, details on the Isaac Mendez paintings, character relational info popping up, etc)

So, if you find the sets at a decent price, I would bite in it and get rid of the DVD's while they still have some value.

I'd love to buy these on Blu but I hate the fact that they are the same size as a normal dvd case. A secondary benefit of Blu is that they save tons of space on my shelfs giving more room for more movies and shows.

Granted I could just order some 3 disc Blu cases from amazon and see if I could make it smaller but even then I probably would take 2 of those cases. I know its a dumb reason not to get the upgrade but hey it would be a double dip. no need to waste that much money. maybe I'll get 3 on blu though.

I will be doing that when they start making 4 disc cases, I am like you I would prefer they had not release them in those boxes, do it like they did with Firefly, Chuck, Terminator, Star Trek

No. We all knew as ratings were down to only 4-million viewers.. But those articles all just came out - and the announcement was just officially made by NBC

It would be really nice to get a movie to finish out the story. I hate when shows get cancelled without a conclusion, ie The 4400, The Dead Zone...

I'd picked up Heroes Season 2 on DVD towards the end of 2008 because it was on sale. I never opened it, though, planning to pick up the first one when it went on sale, and then watch through both seasons. However, I jumped on the Blu-Ray bandwagon first thing in 2009, and decided to just sell the season 2 DVD and wait until I could pick up the BDs for cheap. I did the same with several other unopened seasons of various TV series (Pushing Daisies, Supernatural) because those are shows I think would be great to own on BD (and they're being actively released). Not so much for my crime dramas and animated shows.

Now that the show is done, Universal is likely to release a complete series set on BD.
