Their early stuff back in the early 90's was techno-ish. Then in the mid-90's to early to mid-00's was heavy metal in some sorts. Now there newer stuff is more relaxed and calm. Kinda like how the new Rammstein albums are. In Germany, they did a music video to promote AVP:R. The music video is Wach Auf! http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...8-09fd7e0a29f8 That's off their Official Myspace page.

Being a metal fan here in the US means that pretty much all of my favorite bands are unknown. Here's my shortlist...

Iced Earth
Blind Guardian
Opeth
Pyramaze
Pig Destroyer
Amon Amarth
Demons & Wizards
Agalloch
Symphony X

I saw Opeth live in concert when they played/toured with Dream Theater last year. I saw them in San Jose.

Symphony X is pretty awesome, too. I have no physical copies of their music, but I always give them the "thumb up" when they come on my Pandora.

Augen Auf is a classic.

Loads of unknown bands I'm totally a fan of, where to start?

Closure in Moscow, a band from Perth, Australia, who has got some amazing skills when it comes to guitars and rythms.

Emanuel, a US band who might come as old rehashed news to some, but has some awesome tunes. Their second album, Black Earth Tiger is so weird, but that's what I love about it.

I'm not sure this band is unknown, but I guess not that well known outside of the UK, even less out of Europe. Called Fightstar, they're one of the biggest influences in my music writing, along with Funeral for a Friend.

The list goes on and on with Estate, Esmé, Hell is for Heroes, Sever Your Ties, Team Sleep, Thrice (although they're massively known in the US), underØATH, etc.

Zox is awesome, have you seen them live? The kid spencer who plays the violin absolutely shreds it and rocks out. Great energy.

Couldn't get into Hollywood Undead, seems like this ages angry version of the pre produced cut and paste "boy bands" of the 90's.

Yeah Sypmhony X is bad ass! If you haven't heard it, you should most definitely check out their song "The Odessy." I wish they got the recognition that Dream Theater does. I love DT too but they seem to be going downhill. Early on they had a sound all their own, now it just seems like they're wearing their influences on their shoulder and sounding like other bands.

The Project Hate is good stuff. They're pretty obscure even in their own genre. They don't tour so the only exposure they get is through the internet.

Check out Gojira. Somewhat unknown

Yea actually I have seen them live 5 times they play a lot around me when they tour I live in upstate NY and they play revolution hall near me a lot but I saw them at what was billed as an acoustic show at a local bar, but it ended up being full electric and it was awesome, i was literally right next to Eli as he played, 150 people crammed in a small bar with good music= lots of fun
