Caught the last few minutes of The Black Stallion on TCM last night. I love this movie and it never got treated right on dvd so I've never bought it. Anything on this one?

That's MGM?

The DVD is *horrible*... besides the lack of 16x9, it's an ancient composite master just riddled with some of the worst EE and MPEG2 artifacting known to man.

If this was proprely transfered in HD 1080p, I'd die (in a good way). But I want that glorious PCM! The laser *sounds* incredible.

Will have my 7 years in Tibet review posted by this evening. WOW. The BEST looking BD I've seen to date. Simply stunning.

Just picked up the Black Stallion/Returns 2-pack, and was very disappointed with the PQ. The first movie certainly deserves a nice BD release!

Hey there--Has anyone heard anything about when (or if) The Black Stallion might be coming to blu ray? It is such a stunning movie, with such amazing cinematography (particularly the first part where they are on the island), that it would be fabulous to see it on blu.

I just received - and viewed the first hour of - The Black Stallion on the obsolete RCA Selectavision Capacitance Electronic Disc (CED) format. Since IMDB Pro didn't list the CED release, I thought it might have overlooked a Blu-ray release too, and as the first part of the film is so beautifully shot, I thought it would be great to see in Blu-ray but alas...no dice.

I'd really like to see this in wide screen but
it sounds as though the DVD version isn't so great either. The CED copy I have looks and sounds pretty good but is in mono, and 4x3.
