Moreover, it will not make the Wii unnecessary as I don't see how you'll be able to play Nintendo games on the 360 with that.

If I want a Wii, I''ll buy a Wii. I'll stick with my PS3.

I have an Xbox 360, and I enjoy games on both consoles, but I'm also a former entertainment journalist and I know when I'm being fed propaganda (or smoke and mirrors) by a clever marketing team.

Project Natal is NOT the awesome video game accessory of the future. The simple truth is that we won't know what its full potential will be for many years, once developers have had time to program with it, grow a market of Natal-based games and then either choose to adopt the tech or abandon it (which could realistically happen).

We've seen products like this before--the next "big thing" in gaming. Does anyone remember PureVR? Of course not. It was a great idea on the surface, but it lacked realistic implementation, and thus lacked industry support. But at E3 in 1996, it was "AWESOME!" Now it's dust.

Everything we saw at E3 for Natal is all "proof of concept"--even the private demos not shown in the MS presentation. The videos of the family playing Natal-based games in their living room were all composites--that wasn't live, and those games do not exist in that form (the special effects on the skateboard scan should have made that obvious). The Milo demo was slick and sexy, but again, it's PoC. That app will NOT run on a retail Xbox 360, and even if it did, it's not a game. It's just a tech demo. It's not marketable as entertainment. The Monster demo... what happens when you run out of room and have to back up? The paint-throwing, the Breakout demo (not shown), and the paper doll "Dress Up" demo are not impressive--all of the tech behind those "new experiences" already exist on the PS3, the PSP, the Wii and the DSi.

It's always beneficial to look at what's NOT being said, rather than what IS.

I was more impressed with Sony's Invisimals demo than I was with Natal, because Invisimals is a game, it has real-world application, it actually exists, and it's FUN.

Thanks sylin for making me save my time writing the same thing as you. I'll believe it when i see it and try it for myself. As far as i know it's just a great presentation with awesome smoke and mirrors.

I can already imagine people kicking over TVs and jumping into walls and stuff trying to play soccer on this thing.

Natal will be the best thing to happen to Youtube.

I'm not really one for interactive/motion games, same reason I didn't buy a Wii.

If they ever make a "News from 3 Weeks Ago" sub-forum, this would be the perfect candidate for a sticky.

Sylin excellant poste. Also for any game worth playing you need a controller, they showed the guy scanning the scate board but how would you do a 360? How would you do fancy fighting moves in a fighting game, how do you control the gas (shifting) in the racing game….

Hey, cut the OP some slack. Maybe he was just trying to start a new discussion based upon his opinion (sorta like, ya know, the rest of us). '

Simple! You press your left nipple for acceleration, your right nipple for hand break. Belly button is reverse. Pull your ears to turn left or right. You get the idea. (FYI, to anyone who saw SNL this past weekend, there was a GREAT video game sketch with Alec Baldwin.)

Of course, I'd rather do what you suggest and use a controller so I can actually enjoy the game, instead of looking like I'm trying to tell my TV to steal third base.
