Default May buy these tomorrow. What do you think?

I have heard a lot of good about the Polks on sale at NewEgg and like dealing with the guys over there.

Here is what I'm thinking, thanks to the advice of many forum members:

Polk Audio Monitor 60 Cherry Floorstanding loudspeaker Single x2
Polk Audio Monitor 30 Cherry Two-way bookshelf loudspeaker Pair
Polk Audio CS2 Cherry Center Channel Loudspeaker Single

Total: 509.96

Since they are on a sale for a limited time only, I want to go ahead and get them now. I am still eying that Pioneer SC-05. What do you guys think? Good deal and worth buying now, or no? Do you think a better deal will become available in the near future?

I am wanting to listen to both music and watch movies with these.

Also, this the entertainment console that I have. Do you guys think the Cherry would look good with it?

Sounds like a good deal to me. IMO, polks are better suited to movies then music, not to say that music wil sound bad, I am sure it will sound good, but typically warmer speakers do better musically then brighter speakers. BUT, I mean, Paradigm is a brighter sounding speaker and they do very will with music, so I mean no theory is full proof.

Great speakers all around & at "Newegg", when you find a Deal, JUMP on it. You can never tell if something will go up $30 or down $50. As for that Pioneer SC-05, if you can get it - Get It! Our friend "Forsberg21" just bought one (I believe--??--it's the same model. PM him when you get a minute). I have the 30's & CS2 - both great speakers. The 30's were my main surrounds as I JUST got my 40's hooked up tonite (i'll check out HELLBOY II for my 1st 7.1 Bluray tomorrow), & the 30's are now used as Back or "rear" surrounds. I still have some tweaking to do to get them sounding right, tho' i'm sure i'll tweak them down the road. It NEver ends! - good luck!

Thanks. Getting these speakers for 510 and a SC05 for 800 or so will only put me a little over my 1200 budget I had set out. I'm willing to go over a little to get this done right the first time.

That's the best mindset when you're getting into something like this, and you will be seriously happy with your new setup. It's gonna kick ass! Have you thought about getting a sub as well?

The SC-05 are going fast. I can't say for sure if you can get the SC-05 anywhere with a warranty for only $800 now. 2 weeks ago you could, but they have been going fast, real fast. If you got a deal lined up, go for it Guitar. IF not, you may have to pony up another $150 for the SC-07 or go down a little to the Elite 03.

And as Newmason said, those cherry Polks are gorgeous. If you have the aesthetics for em', then they look amazing. Good deal you got too. Putting everything together right the first time will save you money for now.....until upgraditis gets a hold of you....and it will, don't even try to fight it!

Congrats!!!

The Polk Speakers and the Pioneer Elite SC-05 Receiver will make a Tremendous Home Theater.
If its in your budget I would certainly go for it.

Hi GuitarGuyBMG!

If you can get that Pio 05 as well you'd have a fantastic system and it should keep you happy for quite some time. Be sure to check out Monoprice and/or BlueJeansCable for your speaker wire, banana plugs and other cables perhpas (HDMI, analog cables?). For speaker wire buy no less than 12, 14 or 16AWG.

I love componant racks made fom wood. I have one of those 3-shelf open design glass units and it shows off any dust within minutes. It's a constant struggle to keep it clean (dust-free).

You've done welll! Now run, don't walk to get that setup you described!

John

The only problem is money - I have the money right now to buy the speakers and reciever, but I have to pay some bills and don't want to get my checking account too low, and I really don't want to dip into my savings account.

If I had to buy one of the aforementioned items (speakers or reciever) which should I go with first to get the best deal?

IF you have to buy it in pieces then get the receiver and the 2 front tower speakers FIRST, then get the Center, Sub and Surrounds.

I went ahead and bought two Monitor 60's and the pair of Monitor 30's for $360. I decided to hold off on the center because it is not being discontinued and is widely available still in quite a few places for the same or less then what NewEgg is offering. I'm going to order it whenever I order the SC-05 later this month.

Thanks guys. And I will be sure to go Monoprice.com for my speaker wire. As far as subs go, would it be possible to wire in a PC Speaker Subwoofer ( I have a speaker set from Creative and another from Logitech ) to the reciever when I order it in a few weeks? I will definitely get a high quality sub at some point, but that was just my thought for the time being.
