OK, I am in a quandry in that I can't decide which to buy.
I was about to order the Samsung LN52B750 LCD from Amazon when I saw the Samsung UN46B8000 LED. Although smaller and $300 more expensive, the UN46B8000 LED boast a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 versus 150,000:1. There are other differences between the two but nothing extremely eyepopping but they are still there. I would like to hear opinions from some of you as to what you think would be the best one to purchase. |

How do you know that this is a edge-lit display? I looked all over the Samsung site and it doesn't say anything about this being edge-lit. Of course, I am by no means an expert or even claim to know a great deal about it. That is why I come here for my advice because the peoply on this site are the best!

The 6000, 7000, and 8000 series Luxia sets are all edge lit. The upcoming 9000 series will have local dimming. I have another suggestion. Skip both of those sets and get the 55" B650 instead. The picture is identical to the B750 and its cheaper and bigger. I've compared both the 6 and 7 series and I personally don't think its worth spending the extra money on the 7 series. The Luxia sets have slightly better blacks but the difference will be minimal in most viewing since the Luxia only goes completely black when there's no signal. Once the content begins to brighten in the slightest the Luxia's blacks will rise rapidly and look very similar to the B650's blacks. Its a great TV, but totally not worth the premium IMHO.

I have the LN52A650 and found no reason to spend the extra money on the 750 series. Now, If you are discussing the 6000 thru 9000 series, then we are in a whole other ballpark. I saw an 8000 40 inch a few weeks back. It was displaying Kung Fu Panda on Blu Ray. Efffffin awesome..... nothing more needs to be said.....except, is it worth that much more money than what I spent for my set, while being 12 inches smaller diagonally???
