Default Was "Knowing" any good? No Spoilers

When is it worth a blind buy, or should I rent it first?

There is another thread regarding "Knowing" which will give you a ton of different opinions.

I liked it and it will be a first day buy for me.

I don't think you will find it for 19.99 for a while but I think BB will have it for 23.99

I would say to rent it first, I didn't like it and seems to be a movie you either hate or love.

I have seen bits and pieces of the movie when it came out. to be honest i think i haven't seen a single bad movie by nick cage. His worst is Next, and that skull faced movie I don't remember the name of it the movie (I mainly blame the way the movie turned out because of the director. It was the same idiot that ruined Daredevil.)

RENT! I liked it a lot and maybe someday I'll buy it but I went with a group of people and half of us really liked it and the other half hated it.

Ok, if you're a pretty realistic person and you expect a lot from a movie, then you might not be super thrilled with it. You could walk away after seeing it and like it, or you might not favor it so much.

OR, if you're just a regular movie watcher looking to watch an entertaining movie, chances are you'll like it a lot. That's the general consensus that I've gotten

Personally, I thought it had it's strong points. BUT, being a critical person, the movie had a lot of ridiculous Hollywood crap in it. I loved the ending though

This was one of the most disappointing movies so far this year. Only beaten by "Angels and Demons".
I thought it was pretentious, without any right to be so, and full of religous overtones (yes, overtones).

I say rent it.

This will be one of those blind buys for me. For some reason I am drawn to the "End of the world" type movies. Even though most have a weak storyline I still find that type of movie appealing. Zombie flicks, end of the world, post apocalyptic draw me right in. I wonder what that says about my psyce?

To prove the point: I know 2012 will have a sub-par story but I still can't wait to see it..

Its ok, gets a bit stupid towards the end but it felt like an 80's Sci-fi flick and i liked that.

Can't believe its from the same guy who did Dark City

it's predictable. i guessed everything correctly a good 30 minutes before it happened leaving no surprises/suspense.
i'm glad i waited to see it in cheap theatres, won't buy it, don't need to see it again, but it wasn't a waste of time/money either.
rent it.

I don't know why people are giving so many negative reviews about this movie.... In my personal view, I could say is one of my favorite movies of this year. But maybe because I'm a Christian and this movie relates so much to the "rapture" which is talked in the bible mostly in the book of Revelations. But if you are one of those who are not into these type of stuff... I suggest u rent it first.

We seem to see eye to eye on many movies. Funny, don't you think, how many times we see "worst movie I've ever seen" in these threads. Is it like Office Space where people seem to see continually worst movies? (In their opinion)

Maybe they should pick up RC modeling or something...

The so called "religious nuts" (who will be angered by that phrase the most) will HATE the movie, as always. The more reserved or even sub-conscious religious fans will be unnerved or write it off as well.

I believe it's an entertaining movie, with plot flaws. (but a rare few movies are without flaws) Many will put the religion before the events in the movie, but the events caused the eventual stories/religion.

I also believe there is a HUGE difference between faith and religion, but this is a movie forum.

I love end-of-the-world flics, and I am also looking forward to 2012. (movie and date )

Day one buy for me, $24 is an acceptable price IMO.

that's odd i would have imagined that you would be pissed because of that
[Show spoiler] since the movie seems to show that angels are actually aliens, and the star of bethleham is an alien ship, and the adams and eve's are just humans from other planets etc etc

surprisingly though the biggest gripe i had was
[Show spoiler] how does Nicholas Cage's cell phone work when his son calls him from the land line at the gas station because cell phones aren't working
