After my Samsung 1400 kept giving me more trouble than it was worth, I picked up the LG 360 at my local Costco in Winnipeg. I am using it with my Samsung 40" LCD 720p tv. It is the same as the 370, except for the exterior design. The owner's manual has both models on the cover. The LG was easy to set up. For me, the Youtube feature or streaming features are of no interest. I just wanted a reliable Blu ray player. The 360 has played all my Blu ray movies so far with no problems. Standard defintion movies looked fine. I have seen online that some people have said that the picture of the 360/370 is inferior to the LG 390. Though I haven't seen the 390, I'm more than pleased with the picture of my player. Movies like Kingdom of Heaven were crystal clear and A Bug's Life had a 3D depth to it. The LG loaded Blu rays very quickly; the 1400 was such a slug in comparison. I could also bypass the Disney previews and go straight to the menu. I have not detected any lip synch issues with this player. All in all, I can easily recommend this player. For a price tag in the mid $200 CDN, it is a really good value.

Off hand, do you know if the 360 can send out A/V signals through the HDMI and Component/Red & White simultaneously? This way, I wouldn't need to switch back and forth.
The kids don't need the AVR on most of their DVDs... and the AVR would need to be on for HDMI use. Thanks. |

mkv and m2ts are just container formats so worst case scenario if you have issues with these, you can move the streams into other containers such as mp4 (because there is no encoding involved, it only takes a few seconds - basically as fast as copying the source file on your hard drive). Anything you can put in a mp4 container should work in the player - I have yet to come across one that doesn't. This assumes that the internal streams can be played (H.264, AAC, AC3, etc all can but some of the stranger ones like Snow or Dirac may not be able to even though they can be put in a mkv container). Obviously, if the video stream can't be decoded then it doesn't matter which container it is in, it won't work. |
