Anyone know when that time of year rolls around, that stirs the heart of DVD buyers everywhere, when multiple discount codes start appearing for DeepDiscount.com?
It's become so much of an annual tradition now, longtime buyers have started treating it as a Novemberfest, but isn't it semiannually in July as well? |

Forgive my ignorance (fairly new to blu-ray): what is the much anticipated (annual/semi-annual) sale from Deep Discount?
Is it just the 25% off? Or are there more codes that stack? Also, should I go ahead and add the movies I want to my cart...will they be there come sale time? Thanks in advance! |

But not on pre-orders. (And d'ohh, here I was holding out for "Watchmen" on the 21st, and they announce the Ultimate Cut for December...) |

Looks like those who jumped on the July 21st release get the better end of the deal. I'll take my $5 Tales, free TMNT and Directors Cut over The Ultimate Cut any day. It will most likely be fairly expensive, but the $10 coupon helps. I've heard the "Walk on" mode is one of the coolest Blu features yet. |

when they ran this sale last December they didn't raise any prices that I can remember-- what's great about this sale is that many newer release titles that are priced between $25 to $28 on their site you'll be getting for
$18 to $21 with no tax or shipping (though beware-- they ain't no Amazon as far as getting your shipments fast) I would expect Amazon to react to this sale somewhat as well-- there are numerous codes you can use for the discount during this sale so I wouldn't order everything the very first day.... wait and see what happens-- I'll be getting PINOCCHIO, BUGS LIFE, the new FTH13TH, SIN CITY and others right away and then see from there.... |

Generally, I make a list of what I am interested in about a month before the sale and note the price at that time. I have seen them raise many prices just before the sale.
There is no stacking of codes at all. Basically, the 25% off is off of their already discounted price. You can only use one code per complete order and then it is no good and you have to find another one if you want to place a second, third, fourth, etc. order. But the good news is that there are usually lots and lots of codes (you can almost make up anything and it will accept, LOL). Some codes that will likely work again this year: USATODAY, NYTIMES, LATIMES. As to Amazon lowering prices, don't count on that. Amazon doesn't give a hang about deepdiscount. Personally, I can't think of much I want from them this time around because I'm all set from that special WBShop sale a few weeks back for all the major upcoming titles (Oz, GWTW, LOTR). And you cannot order pre-orders from ddd at this 25% off. Last edited by bluskies; 07-10-2009 at 10:41 PM. |

yeah, when I said multiple codes I meant that there are several you can use during the sale (DVD TALK, ESPN, USA TODAY, etc etc).
The 25% off last year was a first for DEEP DISCOUNT, it used to be 20%. Before blu-ray I ordered countless dvd's from them and always spend a ton of dough on those sales. Last years sale was around the holidays and I remember ordering a bunch of blus from DD and then seeing a bunch of similar reductions from AMAZON-- but I think that was because of the Black Friday sales so you're probably right about them not caring about DD. It just seems like AMAZON (which quite frankly I use for at least 80% of my blu-ray purchases) seems to always react (late ![]() |

For those of us planning to bum rush DD on 7/28 midnight, does new releases become available to order the very minute it turns Tuesday (i.e. midnight)? Anyone know. Thanks.
