Default Good wire gauge for Paradigm Monitor 7's?

I am in the process of rewiring my Paradigms Monitor 7's(version 3's) and matchign center channel. I use a Denon AVR-1604 as a receiver and want to know what the best wire gauge to use is. I went to Futureshop tonight and bought a 50 foot roll of Rocketfish 16 gauge for $46 and then I seen at Walmart a 50 foot roll of Phillips 14 gauge for $35. Should I return the roll of 16 gauge and go get the heavier gauge Phillips for $11 cheaper?

There's more to a cable's quality than its gauge, so theonly way to find out which one is better in your system is to try them both...

Depends a lot more on how long of a run you'll be making and at what power level from the receiver. Longer the run, the thicker the speaker wire you should use. Shorter, the less significant the gauge is. What was the power rating for your receiver?

Here comes another great debate in speaker wire, 16 gage should be fine for any run under 35' anything over that i would go with 14 or 12, the best place for good speaker wire is monoprice.com and don't get fooled by the manufactures claims to higher end cable, unless your spending $2000 on a single speaker wire you will never notice the difference in generic brand cable over Monster or other brands that do more marketing. I generally run 12 for all my speakers it just put's less stress on your AVR and it will run cooler. If your near the Toronto Area let me know i have around 100' of monoprice cable that i'm not using, it's 12 gauge in-wall cable just send me a PM.
