Default Playstation 3 flashes to black

So I've just noticed that during blu ray playback the playstation 3 in my living room is cutting black frames intermittently. I just noticed it tonight (my cousin actually noticed, so I don't know how long its been going on for sure), but the screen will just flash black quickly. Its happened with Push and Knowing.

Any ideas?

i haven't yet, since the movie was already playing and its tolerable. I'm gonna do some testing, but thought someone might have some ideas to make testing quicker.

Sounds like it could be a handshake problem. Try using a different cable.

Yes. People seem to think "all HDMI cables are created equal", but they are not. There will/can be an occasional "hiccup" with cheaper cables not being seated properly. I had problems when I first hooked up my PS3, but I haven't had that issue in a long time. I presume it is because I re-seated my cables (or possibly even switched ends from the TV to the PS3.)

The PS3 was actually using an older HDMI cable, I switched it out with the cable from my bedroom and it seems to have stopped. I fell asleep though so its hard to tell.

My best guess right now is the cable itself, but there's only ever minimal movement of the cable. Why would a cable fail when it is barely moved?

Mines been doing this lately as well. I thought it was a receiver issue but I can't ever get it to repeat the issue when watching cable only when playing BD's. I'll have to switch cables tonight and see if I get any results.
