"Zack and Miri" - Is this blu-ray titled edition censored?

hi,

i recently got this from a amazon seller. The title on the front just says "Zack and Miri" instead of "Zack and Miri Make A Porno". I'm worried this edition is censored in terms of content on the disc as well. Even the name of the making of is censored according to the back. It lists it as "Popcorn Porn: The Making of Zack and Miri". Does it say that on all editions that name for that extra? Anyway I'm trying to get the seller to send me a replacement but the jerk is not responding to my emails. I'm afraid I'm stuck with it. And I just loathe censorship and I wouldn't want this disc if my copy was censored when there's already discs out there that don't have this on theirs. Can anyone confirm if there's anything different about this disc besides the packaging? if there isn't then maybe i can live with it. But I know there's something I can do to get the replacement. I don't know what since he keeps ignoring me. He has a 100% positive feedback last time i checked so i can give him negative feedback and ruin his day. any suggestions, anyone?

just the cover was edited depending on where it was bought.

the movie is fine.

Some of the stores carry a censored cover and disc. The movie is still Zack and Miri Make a Porno when you play it.

everything s/b there, it's just certain stores didn't want to display a "porno" esp. wal-mart.

its actually a walmart bought bluray cause i use to have one before i sold it and the extras and everything are the same as if you were buying it from best buy or fye so that answers your question dude

you can go to freecovers.net and print a new bluray cover for "zack and Miri make a porno" and slip it behind the clear plastic if you want...
i'm kinda anal that way.... i mean what's not to like about the word "porno"
i bet you haven't thought of printing up a new uncensored blu ray cover.

Just the cover art is different, same disc. Even WM had the crude disc...The title was changed for the US market to boost sales and loose the 'porn' appeal/look. It was nothing more than a marketing tactic and to please the whiners out there

The ratings board of the MPAA initially slapped "Zack and Miri" with an NC-17 rating, a box-office kiss of death because audiences view such films as explicit adult-only flicks. Smith appealed and talked the film down to an R rating.
Faber said the company has been able to place its ads in most of the outlets it has approached. For newspapers that rejected them because of the word "porno," Weinstein might play around with variations that exclude the title, he said.

Kevin Smith's use of a mildly naughty word keeps earning him the free publicity he was probably aiming for: The indie auteur says Wal-Mart has asked him to drop "porno" from Zack and Miri Make a Porno's title on boxes of the DVD sold at the retail chain.

"I'm just so shocked that the word 'porno' meant that much to people in terms of, like, they found it insanely offensive and don't want to see it on display," Smith said in an interview with The Canadian Press.

He says Wal-Mart's attempts to shield customers from anything offensive might backfire, because they might not grasp the movie's plot without the title.

"Some Wal-Mart-er could buy it and think: 'Oh, Zack and Miri, looks lovely,' and pop it in and there's ... some pretty graphic stuff," said Smith, who also directed Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. "I mean, at least with the word 'porno' in the title, you can kind of give people a warning about what they're in for."

In the fall, the film ran ads featuring stick-figure illustrations of stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks because the original posters were too risqué.

Wal-Mart representatives didn't return a call for comment.

Don't know if anyone else did this - but I have both versions, and oddly enough - the 'censored' cover version had a cast group photo insert (single sheet). The 'uncensored' cover version did not have it.

When I bought the censored cover, I thought the insert inside had been altered (R2's testicles were missing, it seemed) and figured that after finding the uncensored cover at a store that there would be an uncensored insert picture. But as it turned out... there WAS no insert.

I got the blu-ray with the full title name on the cover and it came with a group shot picture inside but it doesn't show R2's testicles.but thats a good thing lol.I got mine from amazon

You're not screwed if you bought it via Amazon (even if it was a Zshop or seller purchase), because Amazon guarantees the merchandise for the buyer. If you're not pleased, just contact Amazon and they will intercede.

It might not be a big deal to you--personal preference, really, since the movie the identical. For me, when I buy stuff via Amazon sellers, I expect it to be EXACTLY the same as the item it was listed under. If Amazon's item image shows the uncensored cover, then I expect the uncensored cover from the seller. Whatever floats your boat, tho, especially if the price was really good.

oh good! see it was a big deal to me cause i too like to have exactly what i ordered and as advertised but i had lost hope earlier that i wouldn't be able to get a replacement cause of the jerk not answering his emails. but i felt better knowing the disc contents was the same. but i still would like to try to get the original cover. and the item selection thru the seller DID show the uncensored cover. the price was good for a brand new cover too. but i will look into this. cause as i said i thought all hope was lost to get a replacement.

it's kinda ironic this happened on the same batch of blu-rays i ordered recently from amazon sellers. the other disc in the batch was Rob Zombie's Halloween (posted about that too on this forum) and it was the Canadian release which also had different artwork. i didn't mind as much cause the disc contents was confirmed to be the same and there was just minor artwork changes to reflect the different studio really. no censoring in the artwork like in zack and miri's case. so i decided to keep that one. cause it wasn't as big a deal to me. The 3rd blu-ray was The Fly (1986) and that had a weird defect on the disc playback for my player but that's being taken care of and i'm getting a free replacement soon from the seller. It was strange to me this all happening cause I've never had a problem with sellers on amazon until now.

Just to let you know, with the artwork thing, they can't exchange it for being different than described because they share the exact same SKU, it was just a different printer batch. Being that Amazon sells returns from retailors as well you might get one of the censored titles from them just as easily as not (if they got a batch that was meant for Walmart or Target etc)..
