Is this being released by Universal or a different company? (I don't see the Universal logo on the artwork in the original post.) I'm just wondering whether it will have forced French subtitles when the original language track is being played. Any educated guesses?

It will be a Metropolitan release (Seven7). This means that you would have to wait for us to confirm whether or not there will be imposed subtitles as Metropolitan are typically required to have them (territorial restrictions).

FYI There are Dutch and Brazilian BDs of this out already. They have the original English language tracks without subtitles, but the Brazillian version cropped to 1.78:1. Unsure about the dutch one.

It looks like the subtitles are optional and it is in 2:35:1 OAR. |

my understanding of how Blu-ray works is when subtittles are forced, there is no way to use the subtittles option.
since there are 2 different subtittles options available, maybe you can always switch to none in that case ? (yes, this is a far-fetched hair-pulling hypothesis ![]() |

Also, all the Forced subtitle releases say something along the lines of either:
a. "English DTS-HD MA (5.1, 7.1) sous-titre Francais" b. "Version Originale sous-titre Francais" I don't think I've seen a single forced subtitle Blu-ray that let you choose your subtitles (in this particle Blu-ray it lets you choose between French and French HoH). That is why it would appear they aren't forced. I could be wrong however. |

This was released in France last month, but I'd like to know whether the French subtitles can be switched off when the original English language soundtrack is played. Can anyone confirm this either way?
Thanks in advance! ![]() Last edited by Bruce Morrison; 11-08-2009 at 09:56 AM. |

Any comments on the quality of the French release would also be welcome. I'm trying to decide which one to order. |
