Default Mad Men Season Two Disc Problems.

First let me say I am a HUGE fan of Man Men Seasons One and Two. I own season one and its a five star blu-ray. I bought season two today and the second and third disc would not play, I returned the blu-rays and the newer one's third disc failed to play. I live in South Florida and I believe the extreme heat warped the discs. I'll try and return it again tomorrow. Has anyone else had problems with their Mad Men Season Two Blu-rays ?

I mean the heat on the trucks when the discs are shipped out.

Thanks, but my firmware is up to date, all other discs play perfect, I can see the warp from heat at the center and outer edge of the blu-ray.

If I didn't love this show so much I'd give up.. but I'm not.

I replaced the discs again and then did a firmware reboot. Disc 1 and Disc 2 worked perfect. Disc 3 was a problem again and finally after around the eleventh try, I got the third disc to play. Thank Goodness!!

Default FINALLY Satisfaction...

I went to the store I brought this from for the FOURTH time...I kept Disc 1 and Disc 2 and switched for a new Disc 3. The new Disc 3 worked the second time. I AM FINALLY HAPPY!!! Man, do i feel sorry for other people with Blu-ray disc problems at least I never had skipping or shut-downs. My problem was only loading and only Mad Men Season Two, go figure. I also rate Mad Men Season Two a Five Star Disc Set.

Has anyone else had problems with Mad Men season 2?

Also, what kind of player are you using?

I have the Samsung HT-BD2 with the latest firmware.

I had loading problems with these discs and only at the beginning. The player doesn't skip, stop or have disc read errors. All other discs, including these played all the way through once loaded.

Default I Was Right

I went back to the store I bought Mad Men Season Two and they had new copies in thinner cases with discs that were not warped. I Switched again (7th time's the charm) and WA-LA!! Better playing discs. The disc 1 and 2 played with no loading problems!! So I was right, there was a different set of discs manufactured. Disc 3 still only loaded and played 50% of the time.

The first set was in a thick case? I've only seen the season sold in a case just the tiniest bit thicker than normal Blu-ray releases (the style of case Fox, Warner, Paramount, and Universal use at least).

Yes, there were two types of cases at the B.B.. I contacted Lion's Gate and they offered to replace the discs if I send them to California with proof of purchase (reciept). So I sent them the discs to be replaced.

Default Lionsgate Customer Service is anything but

Customer service at Lionsgate is possibly the worst of any studio in the world. I bought 3 seasons of Mad Men, and had no intention of watching a dozen discs immediately to see if there was a problem. When I got to Season 2, Disc 1, the second chapter froze, and could not be continued; there were bubbles on the outer rim of the disc. To me, this is a most obvious bad pressing. The customer service (a misnomer in this case, obviously) refused to do anything to replace the bad disc because I had no receipt. Frankly, out of 650 discs in my collection, I've had four bad ones. All the other studios replaced the defective discs with no questions asked. I've written to the CEO of Lionsgate, but have so far received no answer, no letter, no call. If this is how Lionsgate wants to behave, I'll surely boycott that studio in the future. It's surely no way to treat a customer. The dollar it might cost them to replace a poorly constructed disc from 3 sets purchased is a small price to pay to have any sort of decent reputation in the home entertainment industry. I'm really surprised and disappointed.

I'm also having trouble with my season 2 of Mad Men. I bought the first 3 seasons of this show back in November 2010 and only just recently decided to sit down and watch it. The first episode on disc 2 (episode 6, "Maidenform") just won't load up at all. When I select the episode, after the DTS-HD MA logo, it just goes to a black screen for a long pause until it returns to the episode menu, without having played the episode at all. I tried loading it up on the newer BD player in the living room, and it does the same long pause after selecting the episode (with some weird sounds coming from the player during this), but it will actually go to the episode, only it starts almost 3 minutes into it, so I miss the beginning. When I try to rewind it, it just freezes up again. The disc is brand new, having never been handled before, so the data side is free of any scratches or other blemishes. What could the problem be? By the way, I tried going to the website on the back of the BD case (http://www.lionsgatebluray.com) to contact Lions Gate, but it doesn't seem to work.

Lions Gate was no help. Because of the amount of time that has passed since the purchase, they were unwilling to replace the disc. Amazon said I might be able to get a partial refund if I send it in, but given that I bought it for $9.99 and the set is now over $20, a partial refund probably won't put much of a dent in it. Ah well, I hate to download, but what are you gonna do?
