While trying to get 300 at BB for $9.99 (unsuccessfully) I noticed 12 monkeys is priced at $12.99. At Amazon.ca its $10 more. Fans of the movie should consider picking this one up.

anyone know if you can combine orders like with amazon.ca? I ordered the 300 blu ray already but was wondering if I could add this item to my order along with another blu-ray to qualify for free-shipping.

I hope they did more mork on the transfer since the HD DVD didn't look so hot. Great price tho.

They processed my order and will ship as each item becomes available at no extra cost. I ordered a couple of other items to get the free shipping deal! So I guess they'll start sending that stuff soon.

yeah, but my 300 order got processed too and they canceled it earlier this afternoon. dont get your hopes up. thy may do the same with this 12 monkeys thing. its not until they send you shipping confirmation can you be 100% sure theyll actually honor the error.

as for the transfer.... it got a measly 3/5 rating by the reviewer here on bluray.com so i doubt its top notch at all. only reason i jumped on it was cuz of the price.

I believe the low grade on the PQ has more to do with the limitations of the source than the actual transfer itself.

Let me get this out of the way right up front: 12 Monkeys will never be as sharp, as dazzling, or as striking as other notable catalog releases... regardless of how extensive a restoration it receives. Not only did Gilliam shoot the majority of his scenes with diffusion filters (to submerge the image in an unsettling, dreamlike haze), he relied on clashing light and shadow, jarring shifts in perspective and focus, and intermittent bursts of clarity and softness to keep his audience continually questioning Cole's sanity and motivations. As a result, some viewers will write off Universal's faithful 1080p/VC-1 transfer as an underwhelming fluke; a mismanaged presentation that doesn't boast the high definition swagger required to stand alongside the best catalog releases on the market. However, judging the Blu-ray edition's transfer too quickly would be a mistake. Roger Pratt's palette, drab and dreary as it often is, can be quite striking, particularly during Cole's high-contrast flashbacks. Likewise, black levels, while a bit dusty for their own good, are satisfying, leaving little doubt that Gilliam is more comfortable in the dark confines of his underground city than in the light. More importantly, detail -- as inconsistent and unpredictable as every object, edge, and texture is -- contributes to Gilliam's desired effect, and effectively enhances his increasingly surreal atmosphere.

I haven't received an email from Best Buy yet about 12 monkeys, but when I logged into check the status of my order after receiving an email about Dollhouse and Race to Witch Mountain, I saw this:

12 Monkeys (1995) (Blu-ray) Shipment Cancelled 1 $12.99 $0.00

I'm guessing I'll be getting an email soon. Hopefully a third $5 off coupon as well. My order only has Prison Break Final left in it. Hope I don't get charged for shipping now.

just came home from work and found my 12 monkeys in the morning mail. it only shipped out yesterday! i have to admit, althou i'm not a fan of bestbuy, their shipping is lightening fast. happy to own it. btw looking to trade my German Import of 12 Monkeys since i have this one now. (i bought it cuz was sure they were gonna cancel my order) pm me if anyones interested. happy i got my order
