Default Sony BDP-S360 firmware update

I turned on my player this evening and was notified of an update. I decided to wait for now until I have some issue. Checked the website and it's not up there yet. Anyone have any playback issues with this player? I had a skipping disc a while back that was remedied by cleaning but that's it. Maybe they added some feature? The suspense is killing me.

It's up on their site now.

This firmware update enables the use of the Western Digital My Passport™ Essential™ 320GB portable hard drive (model WDME3200) for BD-Live functions.
Use of this hard drive with the Blu-ray Disc player is intended only for BD-Live functions.
Sony cannot guarantee that other external USB hard drives will support the BD-Live functions.
BD-Live is still pretty useless at this point IMO so not very exciting.

Default Cd-r

Quick question and a favor. I tried downloading an update for my 350 and put the update on a CD-R disc. It won't work once I put the CD into my 350. Am I doing something wrong?

I don't have a connection close enough to attach it to my ATT DSL modem.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks, in advance, for your time and possible help

Once you extracted the file did you burn it as an image or as data? It has to be burnt as an image and the cd needs to be finalized. Not sure what your using for burning software or what your knowledge level is so don't be offended if these questions seem elementary. I know this is in the instructions but people (including myself) don't always read the instructions.

Good question. I am a novice on computer. Know how to get around, but not an expert. No offense taken whatsoever.

All I know is I downloaded it, saved it to my computer, then transferred it to the CD. Sounds like there may be another step I missing.

I have an HP. Not sure how to finalize, as I thought it did that automatically. Once it is done burning, my tray opens. I know when I burn DVD's on my DVD recorder, it always asks me to finalize.

Thanks! I am learning as I go

download this program.

Open it.
Go to Mode- ISO Write
Select the firmware .iso file location
Insert blank disc, and burn.

Press "Display" on a remote control. On the up-right screen corner you get the info on the audio that is currently played.

Your best bet is to consult the manual of your receiver as to whether make it accept HD audio from the player or process it on its own.

Set it to Direct to have your receiver decode, Mix to have the player decode. Page 45 of the manual and yes it's not clear.
