Default Are You Replacing Your Whole DVD Collection With Blu?

I was wondering if anyone is replacing their entire DVD collection with Blu-ray; since the PS3 and some Blu-players upconvert?

I am not. I'm not going to spend $4000 (give or take) on replacing my DVDs with Blu. In fact; if I find a good deal on old movies on DVD, I'm grabbing it. Hell; I found some deals on some old Clint Eastwood Westerns on DVD 3 for $14 and 2 for $10.

I am buying newer releases on Blu though. It's just that Blu's are still somewhat too expensive. I have to wait till the movie I want is at least $20 before I will buy it on Blu.

Most of us were just like you when we got our first blu. Then you'll realize it's a growing addiction and you'll want more. I eventually started replacing my DVDs with Blus and several other people I know.

No. For one thing all of my DVDs are gone. For another, not all of them will be released on blu-ray. Finally, I didn't LIKE all of my DVDs so the ones I didn't like certainly won't be joining my ever growing library of blus.

I have collector's editions on dvd I don't want to get rid of ever. Also, some of my dvds may never get a Blu-ray release unless somehow someone really, really remastered it.

LOL I like Raise Your Voice, I hope it gets a blu release in the near future, Duffy is grossly under-represented in HD.

I only replace if the Blu is much better in PQ, AQ, Supplements, and/or new director's/extended cuts. For instance, The Davinci code doesn't look all that much better and the longer cut doesn't add much (in some opinions).

The X-Men trilogy is a good example of reason to upgrade... which I did.

I couldn't care less about that stuff actually. I get blu basically for the sharper pic, but its not enough for me to totally rebuild my whole collection.

I actually hate when people think its necessary to watch all the extra's during the movie...JUST WATCH THE DAMN MOVIE!!!!

Yes, but the only DVDs I plan on keeping are my kung fu DVDs and Godzilla. Those will never leave me.

Only upgrading the films I love. The rest will stay on SDVD for a long long time.

All new films are bought on Blu
[Show spoiler]and older ones on DVD
.

That's a little extreme. Why do you hate when people watch extras? While most extras are pretty worthless, every now and then you find a great documentary...like in the Alien Quadrilogy.

I'd love it if I could replace every single DVD, but I don't think it will be physically possible. I have too many oddball titles. I can't imagine films like "Dead Alive," "Ninja Wars," "GI Samurai," any of the Uwe Boll films, "Broken," "Hamlet 2," "Brick," old versions of "The Invisible Man," "Frankenstein," "Dracula," or many others coming out on Blu-Ray any time soon, if ever. It's also still unclear as to whether or not films like "Ivan the Terrible," "My Fair Lady," "The Maltese Falcon," "The Frighteners," "The Blob" (either version), or many others will come out on Blu-Ray.

Not to mention, since some DVDs have more extras than the Blu-Ray releases, I've been keeping both DVDs and Blu-Rays together on certain titles (like "The Fifth Element;" got the 2-disc DVD combined with the BD disc).

Wow. Why so serious?

I love extras; I've seen all sorts of cool things from them, learned a lot about my favorite movies. In some cases, it's really incredible to hear how some movies got made (like "Apocalypse Now," people almost died making that film). Some extras are funny too.

Chill out. Go watch some outtakes or something, and enjoy yourself.

Speaking of extras, the 4 hr making of doc on Rob Zombie's Halloween is the most in-depth documentary I've ever seen. And it's the good stuff too, not boring press junket crap. It was worth the price of the bd alone.

Well, it's true that some are out (actually, I have one of them on BD). But there aren't many domestic releases yet. I'm still not sure if I even want them...again...

I'd jump on BloodRayne if the subtitles were English and not German.

I'm holding out until they come out with the third one. Although, I suppose I should rent it first; if it's no good, I'd probably just want the first one. It's one of my guilty pleasure movies.

I won't re-purchase my whole collection, but if it's a film i like and it has vastly improved PQ/AQ I have no problem "double dipping".

I dont like DVDs anymore. I have enough Blu Rays where I dont have to watch them anymore and more catalog titles are released each week.
