Best "Robin Hood" actor in a film? - Blu-ray Forum

Okay with the new Russell Crowe "Robin Hood" being filmed, Who is your favorite actor who played the title character? I would say Errol Flynn from the classic 1938 Technicolor film "The Adventures Of Robin Hood", to me he is the definative Robin Hood!

So far the only on-screen Robin Hood I've seen is Kevin Costner and I thought he did an excellent job.

You owe it to yourself to watch the Errol Flynn version. There is no replacement for Robin Hood for me.

I don't watch movies on DVD, period. Sorry! So I guess I'll just have to wait till that gets released on blu-ray.

It's an excellent Blu-ray release too, very recommended, super pq and sound for a film of this vintage,and its packed with extras that are actually worth watching, and it's a cheaper Warner title now, it's on sale for a measly 11.49 on Amazon!

Another Robin Hood that I liked was the Disney film called "The Story Of Robin Hood" from the fifties, it starred Richard Todd in the title role, Get it FREE on DVD with Disney Movie Rewards! Of course Kevin Costner was good in "Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves" from 1991, and Cary Elwes in the Mel Brooks classic "Robin Hood, Men In Tights" I have never seen the Patrick Bergin version, also from 1991.

While I think Kevin Costner can be good, his Robin Hood doesn't compare to Errol Flynn's.

+1 I have BOTH on blu and like BOTH a lot, but Flynn is will always be number one in my book!

Cary Elwes, because unlike some other Robin Hoods he speaks in an English accent.

Cary Elwes was good too, can't wait for that one to hit blu-ray! Now that's Spaceballs is out, I hope Brooks is focused on that transfer.

Flynn is #1, and #2 to me is Sean Connery in "Robin and Marian," showing the couple later in their life, with Audrey Hepburn as Marian. Sure, it isn't on Blu-ray yet, but still worth seeing on DVD.
