Is it just me or is November a long time in between theatrical release and BD release for an (obviously) non-catalog title? I know MONSTERS, INC. is supposed to be coming out at around the same time, but unless it's just to capitalize on the holidays, I'm pretty disappointed by this. Granted it could mean that the added time will lend itself to a more meticulous transfer, but as an ardent UP fan, I don't know if I can take the wait.

I wouldn't be surprised if the release does not coincide with the Oscar nominations. With ten entries for best picture, if Up is not nominated, I would be amazed. I might even tie a bunch of balloons to my house and fly away.

Didn't TRANSFORMERS, one of the biggest box office smashes of the last few years, come out in the summer? It was released on home video earlier than November/December. Quote:

![]() Right. Forgive me for wondering why a good film is taking six months for BD release when others take two months or more less. Eh, I'm sure the wait will pay off. I get MONSTERS, INC. and hopefully an UP transfer that's worth it (which I'm not worried about knowing the history of Pixar on BD). |

6 months is a bit long when compared to the trend as of late. It is usually closer to 4 months give or take a couple weeks IME.

I'm new to the world of BD (well, to the forums at least, not new to owning the discs themselves), which apparently is inexcusable to some as I keep getting treated as an idiot by certain members (benricci) for not being as well-versed in the area as others. Quote:
![]() For sure. The first act of UP alone will garner it an Oscar nom for Best Picture. Last edited by Jack Wade; 07-22-2009 at 10:44 PM. |

No way they wait to release Up until the Oscar nominations are announced and miss the Christmas shopping season. The last 3 Pixar movies were released in theaters in June and on Blu-ray in November, so it's a safe assumption Up will follow the same pattern.
