Default Pixar's Up in November?

Is it just me or is November a long time in between theatrical release and BD release for an (obviously) non-catalog title? I know MONSTERS, INC. is supposed to be coming out at around the same time, but unless it's just to capitalize on the holidays, I'm pretty disappointed by this. Granted it could mean that the added time will lend itself to a more meticulous transfer, but as an ardent UP fan, I don't know if I can take the wait.

It's a summer movie. Summer movies typically come out between Nov/Dec. What's so unusual in this case?

Pixar's summer movies always come out in November. Odds are if Monster's Inc. comes out this year (I'll believe it when it happens) it will be on the same date as Up.

Can't wait for this release. The best movie this summer (so far) IMO.

Up, Monster's Inc and maybe Finding Nemo...bit close for 1/3 of Pixar's collection to all be released in the same season...

I wouldn't be surprised if the release does not coincide with the Oscar nominations. With ten entries for best picture, if Up is not nominated, I would be amazed. I might even tie a bunch of balloons to my house and fly away.

An early summer movie. A six month gap is kind of unusual.

Didn't TRANSFORMERS, one of the biggest box office smashes of the last few years, come out in the summer? It was released on home video earlier than November/December.

At this point, UP is virtually assured of an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. I don't know if waiting for Oscar season is necessarily worth it, but then again, I just want UP on BD ASAP.

Not really. 4-6 months is the typical release window after a movie hits theaters. Has been for about 20 years.

There's really nothing out of the ordinary about a November release date for UP. I think you're just impatient.

Right. Forgive me for wondering why a good film is taking six months for BD release when others take two months or more less.

Eh, I'm sure the wait will pay off. I get MONSTERS, INC. and hopefully an UP transfer that's worth it (which I'm not worried about knowing the history of Pixar on BD).

6 months is a bit long when compared to the trend as of late. It is usually closer to 4 months give or take a couple weeks IME.

What??? Nobody is going to try and explain this one? Let's just see if Transformers 2 is released as early.

That's what I thought. I was under the impression that the gap had shortened a little bit over the last few years with new releases, but apparently it's been an average 4-6 months for 20 years...

Sorry. I don't know why. I just know that TRANSFORMERS was out on DVD in October after a July release, I believe.

I'm new to the world of BD (well, to the forums at least, not new to owning the discs themselves), which apparently is inexcusable to some as I keep getting treated as an idiot by certain members (benricci) for not being as well-versed in the area as others.

Yeah, I feel bad for folks outside of the U.S. that have to wait for Disney to release their films for months after we get them. For product as good as Pixar, that's ridiculous. At least you won't have to wait long for the BD.

For sure. The first act of UP alone will garner it an Oscar nom for Best Picture.

No way they wait to release Up until the Oscar nominations are announced and miss the Christmas shopping season. The last 3 Pixar movies were released in theaters in June and on Blu-ray in November, so it's a safe assumption Up will follow the same pattern.

I think November is a perfectly reasonable time for this one to come out.
But if you can't wait, go see it again, in 3D.
