Default Blu-ray hardware acceleration problem

Whenever I try to use hardware acceleration on either PowerDVD 9, or TotalMedia 3, the screen becomes green, and playback of anything besides basic menus/ logo or copywrite screens are so choppy it's unwatchable. I don't think anything is wrong with my graphics cards, as I can play any game or any other dvd perfectly. I've tried the demo disc that came with the drive as well as Iron Man. As soon as I turn hardware acceleration off, everything plays perfectly.

Here are my specs:
Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.33 Ghz
BFG GTX 280 SLI
6 GB Corsair ddr3 1333 ram
Sony BDU-X10S blu-ray drive

I've done a firmware update and my graphics drivers are up to date. I don't see what the problem could be.

Just curious as to why this happens. I used both my graphics cards as the main, so i'm pretty sure they're not the problem. It just doesn't make sense that something advertised on the graphics cards don't work properly on both PowerDVD 9 and TotalMedia 3.
