Default Pulled the trigger on a TP Technical pro Eq for my system.I hope it wasn't a mistake

I was going for that Yamaha EQ,
but Here's the EQ i bought .
I want to use it with my Marantz 8001 cd player and run it pure direct through my Receiver.
Honestly what do you think?

this is where i bought it (it comes with a two year warranty)

Equalizers can help to smooth out the performance of the speakers in a room. Your receiver's calibration program does a little bit of equalization, but they are normally 5 bands only. I use the Velodyne SMS equalyzer/analyzer to equalize my subwoofers. I created a sticky thread in the subwoofers section for it. It is more expensive, but the low frequencies of subwoofers create more problems than the higher frequencies.

For a little more money, you can get a 31 band equalizer. They give you more flexibility in equalizing your sound in your HT room.

Hey Ozz,

Years ago I had a 10 band (per channel) graphic eq in my audio system. They are good for boosting the signal and of course giving you much greater control over your sound. The purest say that every time you make an adjustment to one frequency, you automatically alter the sound of the frequency in the next band. My view is, if you can integrate it into your system and you like what it does, then it's worth it.

FWIW, I have been looking at the Technical Pro eq's for the past few months, but just haven't decided on it yet. Let us know what your experience is with it.

I will my friend.

Right at this moment all i want to use it with is my CD player

I can set 8 custom modes in this EQ which iam excited about (it also has 4 built in modes?).
This is one of the biggest reasons i grabbed this one (the blue lights helped as well)

Hey Ozz,

Try Sir Terrance, he was very helpful to me when I was looking at a couple EQ's a while back. He is a very nice guy and I'm sure he will be more than willing to offer some professional advice on this.

I'm not using them but I have two EQ's, and want to use one in a vintage system for my bedroom one day down the road. I have an Audio Source EQ-ONE, it's the one on Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and a vintage Luxman G-100 that a friend gave me.

Andrew,

Oddly, my old eq, that I gave to my brother-in-law (yes he has since divorced my sister) was an early 1980's Audio Source. Back then Audio Source was still making reliable equipment. I miss the thing! Must be nice to have a friend who gives away Luxman equipment. He/she doesn't live in the New Orleans area by any chance? :

Hey Fred,

Yeah, he is a good guy !!! He actually had some other Luxman gear he no longer needed, but I didn't have any use for it.

I love my vintage Audio source !!! I use to have it in a system when I was younger, but it got stolen. They took everything except my Carver amp, must of been a quick inside job. But, I found another one on ebay for $70 that came with the manual, and original microphone for the RTA.

Depends on what you want to equalize (as BD as stated) Your receiver already does an amount of EQ'ing - there are many more expensive EQ's that will do a better job. If you do EQ - get one with Test tones and a RTA (a real separate RTA and calibration mic would be real nice). The reason for the RTA is to see the deficiencies in your room - the object is to get the sound as flat as possible when listening to pink noise. You would EQ one side - then the other channel - then the sum of both channels (when listening to stereo music). When listening and EQing surround - a few companies such as Audio Control - has made 5 and 7 channel EQ's.

Very good eq - only make sure you fill out your Behringer warranty card - channels sometimes have a tendency to go bad.

I ended up with the Tec-pro Eq .I decided to buy The Panamax 4200 which is on top of my EQ. The 4200 is for the EQ ,Marantz and some small items i needed plugged in (Back-light's ,phone etc.)
I believe never go without Protection

With the E.Q I found It took sometime to set up to my liking.
I found i also like the Mid's down a bit ,but thats just personal Preference

Of Coarse the Night shot

I like how I have it set-up The CD separate from the Blu-ray and the reciever .
