Default Custom Subwoofer Hum

My dad built a custom sub for me that was built out of mdf and has a 10 in woofer. It has a low frequency hum and pops turning on. Is it a power issue that can be fixed or is it an amp issue that needs to be replaced? I will answer any questions I can and any input is helpful. Thx for the help guys!!

Is it a continous hum or do you only hear it when you turn it on? Do you get the hum when the subwoofer is not connected to the rest of the system?

When it is plugged in. It does not have to be connected to any audio source. When it is in any electrical outlet it will have a low cycle hum and pop (like punch) and quietly continue its hum. thx for the help Big Daddy.

There must be a grounding problem. Check all the wiring and read the Ground Hum and Ground Loop Isolators thread. An isolator may help.
