Default Are you getting rid of your ENTIRE dvd collection?

I've seen a lot of people here say they sold their entire dvd collection. Are you guys really going to re-buy ALL of your dvds on blu?

That's highly unlikely because of star wars
I still have VHS's but I'm transitioning. It would be useless to get rid of all your dvd's. What if you need to take a dvd to work or school or a party where there is no blu ray?

Why would I buy every single one of the movies I had on DVD on blu-ray? I didn't even like all of my DVDs to begin with.

I did and once they are on BD, I'm trading or giving them away

As long as it can benefit from the upgrade, probably. Anything shot on video or in standard definition, probably not (TV shows, comedy specials, concert videos, etc)

I'm guessing people who say they're going to get rid of their entire DVD collection didn't have a very large DVD collection to begin with.....

I have some dvds that I either kind of liked or enjoyed but don't consider them worth the up grade like...

art of war
american wedding
big mamas house 1 and 2
tomcats
down to earth

I had over 400 at one point, call it big or small, your choice. Once I sold SW that was pretty much it since those are my favourite movies of all time.

No, some titles I don't want to spend any more on and it was just a gift/blind buy/really cheap. Bad Santa for example...

I sold most of my DVDs before I started buying Blu-rays. I only kept few best releases from my collection and some that nobody wanted to buy.

I agree, as long as it's worth it. Romantic comedies/dramas just aren't worth it.

Cool

Until there are cheep, portable Blu-ray players, I will always have a need for DVDs.

My favorites will also find their way to Blu when I am willing and able to add them to my collection ...

Ummmm .... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

It is completely illogical to simple throw away perfectly great DVD's. Some of which are comparible in quality to bad Blu-rays I have watched or will never see the light of day on Blu. Hell ... I still have VHS tapes that will not be released on DVD or Blu.

I am only buying blu-rays on the following criteria:

(#1) The movie is new or I don't already own it and want to see it.
(#2) The DVD quality is horrid, non-anamorphic, fullscreen, etc ...
(#3) Extended Directors Cut or Film Classic with GREAT restoration.
(#4) Film I really, really like.

I'm keeping the TV shows and Godzilla DVDs. Right now, I have about 150 left in my collection and the other 100+ are being sold off right now on Craigslist. Like; I've kept almost all of my foreign films on DVD, which is about 100 and the other 50 or so, it stuff like Jaws, Star Wars, etc.
