Question newbie subwoofer questions

i am ready to pull the trigger on an ED A2-300 sub any day now. this will be my first real sub (my other came in a HTIB). i just had a couple questions so i can get rolling as quick as possible:

1) do subwoofers (and the a2-300 specifically) take regular speaker wire? or is there a special cable/wire needed for subs?

if so, what cable should i be looking for? are they expensive? (i want a HIGH quality one...but have no idea of the cost)

2) is the volume for the sub separate than the volume for my speakers? (i.e. would i be able to turn it up/down from the remote like my speakers or no?)

3) is there anything else a pure sub/speaker newbie should be aware of?

thanks guys.

You can use RCA cables. You will find high quality subwoofer cables at monoprice. They come in various lengths.

There is a volume knob on the sub, but you shouldn't use that to regularly turn the volume up and down. Set the volume at around 1/2 way up, then do the calibration and adjustments on the receiver. After calibration, you can manually set the sub output few db higher if you prefer..

Once you get the sub just come back here and we will guide you through the correct setup to make sure you get it setup correctly. Also it will be good to know what model receiver you have.

nice setup, you should think of getting an amp too, those RTis are power hungry speakers.... I almost got that same receiver last year...... it was just too deep...

Get and RG6 cable, or sub cable
