Default A Burning to BD-R Question

Hello. I have a question, I'm not sure what thread would already answer this, so I figured that I'd go ahead and ask.

A friend and I are working on a Jason vs Ghostbusters fan film. Now, it's only in the scripting stages, but I got to talking to him and we said how it would be nice to have one copy each of the film on Blu-Ray. Now here comes my question.

Does the video in question, need to be in HD to burn to Blu-Ray? Or can we use a regular video?
