so you got rid of the B750? and did you find/see the SOE on your XBR9. Ive never seen any SOE on Sony sets like I can and do see with Samsungs.

OMG! im sorry. you know what? I got you mixed up with "plopez12" in another thread. I was talking model number and rerferring to the Samsung 46B750. SOE is Soap Opera Effect (not sure if I was using the correct "nickname" terminology for it). But what I was referring to with that was the interpolation movement that some Samsungs can do when they have Auto Motion Plus. It makes the image have a 3D-ish look to it during movement. I know when I saw it for the very first time, it literally stopped me dead in my tracks! Somebody else on here probably can explain it better. I just know it when i see it (some like it, some dont).

I did get a 40" XBR9 and had it in my room and was comparing it versus the B750 and at least for this Sony the SOE held up better then with the Samsung...im not sure about the xbr8 but i know this one held the SOE strong even through action or chase scenes where the B750 somtimes becomes a little more subtle

just to clarify soap opera effect is basically a 3d effect that's created by tv's that are 120 or 240hz...most times when you go into Sears or Best Buy and they are running a Blu Ray player to certain tv's some images seem to jump off the screen in a sense...makes it look like the character is there in front of you or you are looking through a window at them...some people like this and some don't...im one of the people that does like it

It is actually the motion enhancer, not the 120hz. This is a common confusion. The sony KDL-V4100 series had it and they are only 60hz.

ok which sony models are your talking about that has the ability to do the 3D motion like the samsungs. is it limited to only the "XBR" line? if the sonys have interpolation it must be subtle because ive NEVER noticed it being shown in any store ive been in. im curious to know if sonys settings are just on/off, low/med/hi, or do they have advanced settings like the new samsung now have in them where you can control the effect on a range from 1-10.

sony has motionflow...on the xbr9 that I tested there was off standard and high...there is also a cinemotion option...when i had motion on high and cinemotion off...the SOE was incredible...when it is set at default in stores i believe it was standard for motionflow and auto1 for cinemotion which didn't create as much of the SOE as motionflow on high and cinemtion off...if you have a place nearby that has the xbr9 on display and is running BD try put it on those options and you will see the difference

to add to that Im not sure if it is limited to just the xbr line....i know the Z5100 has very very similar specs and some people when looking at them side by side could not tell the difference..i know it does have the 240hz on the z5100 but i dont know if it has the cinemotion option...i was not able to test a blu ray on that set so i could not tell you if the SOE is as good as the XBR9

At minimum, all of the 120hz tv's that Sony makes (V3000 and above) have motionflow. the 42v4100 was the first TV I have seen that wasn't 120hz that had it.
