Is this a region free blu ray

I am curious to know why many blu rays will actually state on the reverse whether it is a region A B C or all of these regions, and yet there are some blu rays that don't appear to state the region code at all. When the region isn't stated do I assume this is region free blu ray. 2 blu rays I have at the moment which don't state this is 'The Island' and 'Zulu'.
Hope someone can shed some light on this.

No. You should never assume anything

To answer your question directly, different distributors choose to label their products differently. For a number of reasons, many distributors also provide only basic, generic information. Therefore, you should try to look for a review of the film(s) you would like to purchase.

Thanks for that advice. Ok I think I shall have a look at the film reviews rather than assuming what region code it is.
