Which BIC's are you talking about? If your talking about the BIC Acoustech's they are very good. Horn loaded like Klipsch. There is a big thread on them on avs. If those are the ones you are interested in I am selling some of mine that I've had for only 3 months so contact me if your interested in buying. By the way Yes, they will most definately be way better than your onkyo's. I upgraded from some onkyo's myself and it was a huge difference.

The BIC America Venturi Speakers are pretty good performers for the price.
They are well priced for the performance, but not too many members here use the BIC Venturi Line(Not Sure Why)

The BIC America Acoustech Series are very good(just as STARSCREAM said). So while you can get better speakers then the BIC Venturi Speakers they are much better then the Onkyos or many other entry level speakers.

And they are also better performers at a better price then most speakers sold under Companies that mainly sell Receivers,Blu Ray Players, and TV's.

So give them a serious look they can be worth the purchase. And if you can get some BIC Acoustech speakers for a good price then they would definitely be worth Serious Thought.

I had a pair of BIC Venturi Formula 4 speakers about 20 years ago. They were ok, nothing to write home about though! I upgraded to Klipsch Heresy II Signature Edition...now they were nice!.

bic acoustech and klipsch are identical speakers really! both use horn tweeters. the bics and the klipsch will have a completely different sound from the polks! Have you auditioned any in show rooms? i highly recommend it if you had not as they will have their own sound characteristics

Yes, the BIC's have horn-loaded tweeters, but from the reviews I've read they don't sound identical to Klipsch. They are not as bright and some people prefer them over the Klipsch models that they compete with. HERE's one review of them that compared them directly to Klipsch Synergy and Reference speakers. There is also a BIC owner's thread over on avsforum and there are several threads in other forums discussing BIC Acoustech speakers.

I have had BIC America speakers for about 5 years and I am very pleased with the performance. They were in my living room, but I moved them to my family room this year. I did not feel a need to try the Ed Frias crossover modications because I liked the sound of the speakers right out of the box. The BIC speakers that I have are listed in my signature.

Bic Venturi(a line below the acoustech series)makes a great lower priced hybrid bipole surround speakers.
The model number Bic DV5BLK is very similar to my Klipsch S-2 Synergy Bipole Surrounds.

They have a 5 1/4 inch woofer that fires straight out in the forward direction. Then they also have (2) 3/4 inch dome tweeters. One is on each side, aimed out 45 degrees from the woofer and 90 degrees from tweeter to tweeter.

Here is a link to the speakers that sale for $63.99 each.

You start yet another thread on this...and then you add a poll? I believe you received a good bunch of opinions in your other thread, and I expect the answers will be the same in this one.

I would say however much it takes for you to think it sounds like the theater to your ears. All of us are different and we all hear certain frequencies differently, so it is very subjective. There are some here what will say thousands and other that would say for less than $1000. Basically this is really tough question to give a definitive answer to.

there are a number of other cinemas that use the older JBL models, as well as Altec Lansings Voice of the Theater models.

Horn designed speakers are a preference due to its sensitivity and wider dispersion.

What does the crossover modification do?
