Default Interesting Jonah Hill Article plus possible upcoming movie

hey,

For those of you big fans of Jonah Hill:

Quote:
I still think of Jonah Hill as Hollywood’s default, fat sidekick but apparently Hollywood has started thinking of him as the next Tom Cruise, or at the least, the next Jason Segel. Variety says Universal has bought up a comedy pitch called The Best Thing About Pam Rooney, with the express intent of turning it into a star vehicle for Jonah. I say smart move. One of Jonah’s next movies is a little something called Get Him to the Greek, and if the film turns out to be even half as funny as the script, then Hill will be king of the mountain when it’s released in 2010.

Enjoy.

Honestly I see him as the next Kevin James and that's probably exactly what he is. A good comedian but I doubt he'll ever do anything serious.

I see him as the next William Hung.

Hopefully not to be with us for much longer, his comedy isn't that funny.

Saying stuff louder doesn't make it more funny, it just makes it annoying.

It wasn't thread-crapping, he was giving his opinion. Just comes off as thread-crapping because that's how jadedeath is. That said, I agree with him, while I DO consider Hill funny he could shout a lot less of his lines. He's still a LOT funnier than his Super Bad co-star Michael Cera, still not sure how that guy has a career.

Didn't say that he was thread crapping. Just found it ironic that he could post this:

"What's with all the Romero hate?

The guy makes Zombie movies, if you don't like zombie movies, or are surprised when he makes another one... don't watch the movie {or open the thread}

Logan"

And then post this:

"I see him as the next William Hung.

Hopefully not to be with us for much longer, his comedy isn't that funny.

Saying stuff louder doesn't make it more funny, it just makes it annoying.

Logan"

The whole "that's just the way he is" thing never held much water with me. To each thier own I guess.

I haven't thought about Jonah Hill very much. That being sad, I like Michael Cera a lot.

Yeah, I did.

But there's a difference, do you see it?

If not, allow me to explain.

No, it's too long, allow me to sum up.

Comparing someone who can't act to Tom Cruise, especially when said someone is only 'funny' to people who have way too much Mountain Dew, Doritos, and Pot in their system is just asinine.

As I have mentioned, and Greenscar agreed with, he's a one trick pony, he doesn't have funny jokes, he just says stuff louder and expects a laugh. There's not really any situations that he's been in that has required too much physical comedy, he hasn't been in any dramas to speak of, {unless you count Knocked Up, which people should have been crying at how bad it was} he's just got himself surgically attached to Seth Rogen and that's the only reason why he's still working.

Much like William Hung, he should just go away and spare the rest of us one more louder-than-it-should-be joke.

It would be entirely different if he wrote, directed, produced, did something other than parrot a joke written by someone else that he makes not funny by saying it louder than you really should be. That's not acting, that's annoyance.

As for my other post {the one about George A. Romero making zombie flicks} Of COURSE George A. Romero makes zombie flicks, people seem to get on his back about that, it's like getting on Lucas for making Star Wars stuff, that's what he does, and arguably he does it well. Now getting on Romero for making zombie movies {because he has talent in directing, writing and producing} is different than getting on Jonah Hill for being not funny but pretending to be.

Ah, but those are your opinions, not facts. I find Hill funny, and I don't drink Mountain Dew, or Smoke pot, although I do enjoy the occasional dorrito. The thing is this: You posted a post telling people not to hate in their posts, and then turned around and posted a post full of hateraide. I just thought it was ironic. No hate intended. Thanks for trying to dumb it down for me though.

How did you come up with the name "Jaded"?

My wife mentioned on the way home from Funny People that its time for Jonah to ____ or get off the ___. I told her I didn't know if he could carry a movie as the main guy but for his career its time to find out if he can be the guy (which he might) or if he'll just be the funny, overweight supporting guy from here on out.

Thumbs down Jonah "As Big As A" Hill

He was funny in Grandma's Boy, due to the fact he didn't have many lines.....but every movie after that.....ehhhhh.....

So, jaded you got a problem with Superbad, Knocked up I presume. GreenScar you are involved in this as well since your post.

I actually liked Superbad, but he wasn't the main MAIN character, he was one of 3 {and his parts still were less funny than the other two}

McLovin was the best IMO.

Definitely agreed on all of that.

I've only seen him in a few movies, since I don't usually watch the kinds of movies he stars in, and found him not funny...at all. The exception being the line about "I think they went to hell" in the Funny People trailer.

I think you could insert any portly comedic actor into the roles he played and the movie wouldn't skip a beat. I did like him in Superbad.

I think this guy is a much funnier quirky sidekick:

Never do anything serious, eh?

Had to revive this old thread for that

He is just like Will Ferrel for me. I usually avoid films he is in, but at least I don't purposefully avoid films Mr. Hill is in. He just isn't funny to me.
