Default Top 5 Disaster Movies of Alltime??

Ok this is a big category so feel free to put a movie that fits "disaster!" There are some great ones. I would say my top 5 would go:

1. Armageddon
2. War of the Worlds (2005)
3. Deep Impact
4. Knowing
5. 2012

Got Em!!

I'd have to add Deep Impact and Independence Day in place of I-Robot and Signs.

I don't consider either of them to be "disaster movies." MAYBE Signs.

Duh, I have to add Titanic, too.

So my 5 are, in no particular order:

1. Titanic
2. Independence Day
3. Day after Tomorrow
4. Deep Impact
5. War of the Worlds

1) I removed Armageddon and replaced it with Day After Tomorrow; and

2) I do not mean the 50's version since I've never seen it.

+1, all good movies - except for the last one, never heard of/saw but the title alone suggests Disaster!

Might be a good place to start with these 5 for MORE RECENT Titles anyway. Above with AIRPORT, POSEIDON ADVENTURE, TOWERING INFERNO, all great for their time Disaster Movies.

Perfect Storm, just a diaster at sea movie for that boat really. When I think of DISASTER MOVIE, "Day After Tomorrow" definitely fits the bill. Think, worldwide destruction, like the 2-4 titles in O_V_N's post. TITANIC is a Disaster movie yes, but just one ship. Yes, I know, Airport, Poseidon Adv., T. Inferno were all specific to one specific disaster or location.

So, my list would be these, in no particular order:
War Of The Worlds
The Day After Tomorrow
Independence Day
Armageddon
Towering Inferno/Poseidon Adventure
(Can't leave these 2 1970's Classics off, so I put them as One!)

"Krakatoa East Of Java" is volcano disaster film from the 60's, it starred Brian Keith,Maximillian Schell,Diane Baker,Rosano Brazzi and Sal Mineo, the OOP Anchor Bay DVD(the one I have) has a beautiful widescreen transfer but is non-anamorphic,it was also released by Simitar(also OOP) in the wrong widescreen aspect ratio, avoid that release!

Come on man dont get offended, Im just saying it is classified as a disaster flick. It may not be your prototypical one but its still one.
