According to reports the Uk Blu-Ray release of Outlander has now been pushed back to 7th September. If you can't wait then you can actually rent it from Blockbuster now!

Maybe the reason for the UK version being pushed back is because the UK version is messed up like the Canadian version is, or was. Alliance ( from Canada ) has started an exchange program when you have to send the disc, case and artwork back and they will send you the new and hopefully correct OAR Outlander.

This was from a posting on the Outlander thread from Canada....

"So I finally have some new info on this... the process involves emailing alliance. here's the original message:

Quote:
“Consumers should contact Dione Baxter at Alliance Films in Canada: dione.baxter@alliancefilms.com, and they will be happy to exchange the discs for a new copy.”

So, as I stated in the beginning, if the UK version was messed up also, the extra week or so being pushed back was to give the UK enough time to recieve new, correct OAR copies. Just a wild guess.

Except that it hasn't been pushed back, HMV are now shipping copies.

Watched this last night and its a mixed bag in the pq department.Detail and sharpness is spot on especially in close and medium shots but the blacks are all over the place. From scene to scene they differ from great to the down right awful.
It will make many of grab your remote and start tinkering with the brightness because they are that bad in many scenes. If the blacks had been corrected then this could have been one of the best blu rays this year in the PQ department.

Jack....was it the UK version ? Region B . Where are you located ? If you're in the USA, did you watch it on a USA player, or a region free player like the older LG or the Momitsu ? Myself as well as others want to know if the UK version is region B LOCKED or REGION FREE

I can't comment on the reginality of the disk as I only rented it and it has gone back to Lovefilm... but as for the PQ I agree with Jack... The Black levels are dispicable... right of the bat they are right in your face clouding the picture... The movie itself is fun and worth a bargn bin addition to your collection... but I wouldn't go running out and spending over £10 on it...

On a side note Ron Perlman didn't have enough screen time for me or to get his name on the front of the box... he has maybe a handfull of minutes dotted at the end of the movie...

Got the UK version Friday and just tried playing it, says it is for Region B playback only. So it appears to be Region B locked.
