I've only watched it twice when I first bought it. I do remember thinking this was a disc of both exceptional AQ/PQ. I personally prefer EJ on vinyl as I don't really care for theatrics in musical performances, but the music is too good to ignore and it definately deserves another listen soon.

It is a very good disc, indeed. However, this is probably one of very few titles that I've covered where the lack of supplemental features is rather disappointing. First, because the show marks a very special occasion, and thus this should have been a special release, and second, because the DVD release actually offered just about all of the supplemental features that should have been included on the BD.
It has been awhile since Universal Music released the the disc though, so, hopefully in the future such important events will be treated a lot better. This being said, the audio and video treatments are very impressive. Pro-B Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 08-18-2009 at 01:51 AM. |

I cannot speak on behalf of my colleagues, but I personally take (the lack of) extras in consideration on a case by case basis. With this specific disc, I thought that the supplemental features should have been included. It clearly is something Universal should have thought about (same goes for their Barbra Streisand release). When it comes to films that have received multiple releases during the years on SDVD, I tend to look at the big picture - which is: what matters the most is top audio and video treatments. Everything else is just an added bonus. ![]() Pro-B |

I own this and for me the picture quality is almost perfect (except a little pixelization during the graffitti drop). The sound quality is absolute stellar. My only complaint is the mix tends to mask the guitars and specifically the cellist. I didn't hear him at all during the entire concert.

Thank you very much Pro-B for your response. I have a tendency to look at Extras as an added bonus as well, and have never not purchased a title because they were lacking or minimal.
I enjoyed your review of this title and will be giving it another viewing within the next day or so. EJ certainly is a favourite of mine as his music has always resonated very well with me. John |

The only problem I had was that Sir Elton has gotten extremely widescreen himself. (I kept thinking that the piano bench was only barely wide enough.)
![]() Blu-ray does not hide the imperfections of age or weight. Like the Stones in SHINE A LIGHT. Not just the wrinkles in their faces--that's to be expected--it was all the wrinkles on their arms! (Long sleeve shirts might have been a better fashion choice.) On the verge of becoming 60 myself (Bruce Springsteen and I share the same birthday and age), Blu-ray certainly does not flatter the human form in abject decline. ![]() But viewed solely as concerts, ELTON and SHINE were incredible. |

Who cares if they're fat and wrinkly? The Stones and Elton can still put on amazing, amazing shows in their AARP years.
I'm also never one to complain about lack of extras, however I owned the DVD version of the Elton 60 concert before I switched to Blu Ray, and there were a ton of great videos on it. I was massively disappointed to see that none of them were on the Blu when I upgraded. |
