Arrow Sneaky Spoiler Gets Pics of Smallville Supersuit

I don't watch the show (since season 3) but I thought there'd be some interest in this:

Quote:
We've been sent some pics from the set of Smallville season 9 with Tom Welling in the controversial super suit. They aren't much more than sillouette, but they are definitely him in the suit.

Not sure how they can even confirm that's him.

Well that first picture sure does look like the blurry outline of Tom Welling's head

Do you watch this show? Is it something someone can just jump back into after missing the last 4 seasons?

Yep, its my favorite show

I'm the resident news guy for the Smallville thread the last few months it seems

You probably could for the most part, but I'd recommend watching the seasons you missed out on to catch up and fully understand and appreciate what is going on (season premiere Sept. 25th).

I wouldn't skip seasons 5-8, almost EVERYTHING that happens in the show happens in those. The first 2 seasons pretty much set up the show and then BAM, it takes off. Everything changes a lot, would be hard for someone to miss half the show and then just start watching it again, especially since the cast and setting/feel of the show change so much.

That pretty much sums it up for the most part actually.

I think you'd be able to follow along GS, but if it was me, I wouldn't enjoy it as much if I wasn't up to speed with the show and didn't know the characters' histories.

Doesn't look like the suit to me, looks like a guy in a trenchcoat. Look at his hands they are coming out of sleeves. Give him an xtra large hood, and I'd swear we were looking at a Jedi

to those that don't watch smallville:

the show doesn't always follow the "primary" superman backstory (but definitely does at times and incorporates many elements from it) as this is a different take on clark kent becoming superman....this suit is not THE suit....the show's producers are trying to go in a direction where he is closer to becoming a superhero and we can assume clark donning a new outfit is part of that path...

here is the comic con footage that shows clark wearing this suit (go to 1:50):

pretty sure the "suit" is basically a trenchcoat

but the Superman S is on his chest or something

I think it's supposed to be kind of reminiscent of some of the different costumes Superman has worn. Mostly black ones (doesn't he usually have a white cape or something though). Also: I can't help but think of Kon-El. Maybe that's the style they're trying to draw from.

i think so too afro...i believe the producers talked about how they were drawing this suit from other costumes superman has been known to wear, especially the black one in the comics/cartoons after he comes back to life from his fight with doomsday (which fits into the smallville storyline as he's already encountered doomsday once last season...wasn't THE battle, but a battle..if you can even call it that )

Also for those who don't watch Smallville. Here's an interview with the shows executive producers about their suit:

Quote:
I was just reading on Twitter, because none of us could get into the panel, that there are some very big changes coming to Smallville this upcoming season, with its move to Friday night. For example, maybe someone will be wearing a costume of some kind.

Kelly Souders: There’s a little bit of a wardrobe change this season, that’s fair to say, yes.

Brian Peterson: We’re trying to explore, maybe the last stage this next couple of years. What Clark Kent goes through in his decision to put on the cape and tights. It’s kind of based on a couple of pieces of mythology from when he died, and his Doomsday fight in the comics, and the costume he wore after that, and that’s kind of the basis of what we’re doing with his look this year.
