I hope it's better than the second one. It has its moments, but it's mostly a cash-in. Hopefully they've come up with something genuinely interesting this time.

I'll believe it when filming starts. Will Smith has an interesting IMDB page. He apparently has 24 films in development (and that doesn't include MIB 3, which isn't on the list). Obviously he won't make most of these but he's still very busy. Also, I have trouble believing a 2011 release date. For a big budget movie to come out then filming would have to start very soon, and who knows if there's even a script yet, much less actors signed or a director.

You are right about this. If you noticed the article is dated April 1st, 2009 so I guess a 2011 release date wouldn't be possible, and even if its pulled off it would a disaster for the movie to begin with rushing it into release.

I would expect a 2012 release, and cross my fingers that Will Smith decides to go with this film.

Sounds like a bad April Fool's joke to me, besides as much as I loved the first two, I don't think this franchise deserves a 3rd movie.

So this would affect Ghostbusters 3 since it was announced on the same day as MIB 3 or even Spidey 4.

The way to make an April Fool's joke believable is to pair it with real news. The fact that there has been no news or even rumors of this movie in the 4 1/2 months since the supposed announcement likely means it was a joke, especially with a supposed 2011 release date.
